The award was from every person that played at the Inaugural Back Bay Battle this past weekend.

I knew you would be there because of the strong foundation Jim established. His hard work & dedication occurred before disc golf was popular. You had to try hard to convince parks that disc golf would be good for them and could expect to be denied often. It was Jim's hard work that made my job easy. I was able to promise the parks & recreation they would see increased park attendance with the installation of a disc golf course. It is the fine group of dedicated disc golfers from the Southern Nationals that have made that promise a reality and this past weekend was a testament to that.

In addition, the award was from:
-all the players of the Southern Nationals, everywhere
-every person that has played disc golf because there was a course nearby that Jim Orum designed
-ever person that started a new course (such as Hiller) or a new disc golf club because they are passionate about disc golf after being introduced to the sport on one of the numerous course Jim built.

Jim, you might not always hear it from people, however, from the applause given to you Saturday night, it was apparent that everyone felt that you deserved recognition. In fact, you deserve far more than any words or plaque could convey.

I was truly honored to be able to present you the award but do not deserve all of the credit.

That award was from everyone.

A large field for your first event is a real challenge and y'all did just fine. I enjoyed the course and got to play with a few people I haven't seen in a while which is always nice. Thank you Eric, Lynn, Jamie and all of the others that were helping whose names I don't know - especially the guy in the wetsuit who was fishing discs out of the canal.
