On March 21, 2010 disc golf lost one of its best friends. Gregory Wesley Carter loved disc golf and all those that played. No one worked harder at improving his game or improving disc golf courses than Greg. Upon his death, Greg's father used a portion of his life insurance for two things Greg loved, disc golf and kids, by installing a 9 hole course in Greg's memory at Rustic Youth Camp at Russellville, AL. Last Fall we organized a tournament to endow a scholarship in Greg's honor at the youth camp. This scholarship gives kids, who otherwise could not afford to attend, an oppertunity to go to camp. This years event at Rustic Youth Camp will be November 19th. It will be a PDGA CEP charity event and a Southern Nationals qualifier. The RYC course is designed for kids, but still can offer a challenge to players of all skill levels. We plan to start this event a little later in the day than most tournaments due to the fact that nearly all players will travel at least an hour to get there and play will go quickly as most holes are around 200' long. 2 rounds of 18 holes each. Registration in the camp dining hall 9:00-9:45. Players meeting 10:00. Lunch will be provided at all players. Open $50 Advanced $40 Intermediate/Rec $30 Novice/Junior $20 Due to this being a PDGA CEP caharity event, there will be no $10 fee for non-members. All Am players will recieve a players pack valued at $15. All profits will be donated to the Gregory W. Carter Scholarship. Hole Sponsorships will be $25 each, although there are only 9 holes we will have no limit on sponorships. All hole sponors will recieve their choice of any disc in the CPF inventory. A guy named Steve from MN took open with a -24, Justin Perry next with a -16, and I brought up the rear with a -8.

Kim Karanja (I know I didn't spell that correct) over Vicki Palmer with a -3 to take Pro Women.

Patrick Robinson took Adv Masters, also shooting the lowest score of the day his second round 39 (-15)

Josh Lenox took home Am Men

Deborah McCoy wins Am Women

Local celeb Ian Karanja the 10 and under world champ takes Jrs.

I skipped ace hole #8 to take a cool $75 ace pot!!!!

The easiest way to find the course is to arrive at the intersection of AL Hwy 43 & AL Hwy 24 in Russellville. Take Hwy 24 west a few miles and start looking for the Rustic Youth Camp road signs.
