Honest Question about payout? (16 replies)

To the TD's of Southern Nationals. How many of you actually post the payout of your tournament without adding (players packs, ace pot, ring of fires, lunch, etc . . . ).

I do however see both side of the coin when it comes to payout.......there is added cash to an event which is in the form of lunch, ctps, ring of fires, etc . . . that stuff was purchased with money. The value of the event is obviously better when you add those factors in.

I was just wondering about the added cash to divisions. Who turns in results with just that? When you look at an event these days its really hard to determine who actually earn (cash) or (cash and prizes). Especially when you try to determine how much money was given per player at each event. I know of some TD's that inflate their disc prices (maybe b/c they own a business) and other TD/Clubs who keep them dirt cheap (which is good, but kind of hurts surrounding events b/c players complain that they received a champion disc for $12 at once place and $16 at another place).
I however sell them at events for $15.

The common question asked to me about my events is always added cash to divisions. I have had players less concerned about players packs, lunch, ctps, etc . . . *typically the pros*

So again what is the real value? When the SNPC is posted each year it usually ranks in the Top 10-20 PDGA events of the year, but not based on added cash value, but added cash/prize value. Doesn't mean that years SNPC was any good or less of value, just less added actual cash to the pro purse.

Just a thought question guys sorry for the rant.

I for one can't attend two day events. They cost to much you have to get a hotel or sleep in a tent. What your thoughts on this? It's not that hardy to put a one day event on we do it we are a club. Being as how I've never played in one and sure haven't run one, was wondering if I could get some advice on how they work. Is it basically like a tournament, with assigned tees and shotgun starts? How does pay out work are they all "winner take all"? Should we use handicaps being there is not a lot of experienced players?

Would also like to know how the pay out works in the ones that use can goods as the entry fee, I like this idea and think it would help not only our food bank but also in promoting disc golf in our area since it is new to most around here.

I like to throw my frisbee's, sometimes I throw with other people, sometimes we try and see who can hit the least amount of tree's, frisbee's like tree's, water is bad juju for frisbee, frisbee's are plastic and therefore are not drawn naturally to chains, I have to make my frisbee be friends with the basket, sometimes other people's frisbee's listen better than mine, but sometimes my frisbee doesn't hit the tree's, sometimes it goes right to the basket almost every hole, on the days were my frisbee is feeling compliant, sometimes other people's are not. I like those days, people give me more frisbee's and all other cool stuff on those days, and they even keep records of it, just for frisbee's doing what We tell em to do everyday. Each day is a new adventure for frisbee and me, will it fly crazy like a zig-zag bumblebee, or it will it hit the iron leaf of a singular tree, from grip lock to half cocked, from early release, to earthen tee's, there is one thing that is certain, at least it is for me. No matter the forum's and chats, no matter the baggers and rats, no matter the things people say you see, my frisbee is deaf, dumb and blind, and will remain drama free, in the end it be my plastic and me

Dustin LeMasters Rule Question (14 replies)

At the SN Cup in Jackson, there was a rule that I thought I knew placed in doubt by Dustin LeMasters from Fort Walton Beach. A player's disc landed on the in bounds side of a painted OB line. The player began to mark their lie with the standard 1 m relief perpendicular to the OB. Dustin stated that the rule had changed and that if the player could take a legal stance from the lie, he could not relocate the lie up to 1 m from the OB line. Dustin was pretty adamant about the rule and stated that it was on his official's exam. I confess that I do not spend as much time as some on the rules, but it I felt it difficult to argue given that he stated he had just had that question on the test and that Snappy had called him on it in the past. I have looked for the rule on the PDGA site, but can't find it.

Dustin if you are reading this, could you point me to the rule stating that you can not relocate your lie up to 1m from the OB line? Or anyone else for that matter? I just want to make sure and play this correctly in the future. In this case we played the lie both ways and asked the TD after the round.
