cody be REAL there is NO 700' "par 3" unless You have about 200' of elevation to throw from!!! LOOK UP (no the Sky is NOT falling) the Definition of PAR!!!

Hole 9 at Veterans DGC in Tupelo, MS when moved to the king position was played as a par 3 in Fling with the King last year. That was what I was saying. Making my point for tournament play that par doesn't matter. If a hole was par 5 and 200 ft it would not matter, the winner of that hole will be the one with the fewest throws.

I don't know about all of you, but when someone asks me what score I took on a hole, I don't say 1 over par, I say 4. When I total up scores for a tournament, I don't write -5, I wrote 49. It is all about number of throws.

I hope this tournament goes good. FWIW, most of the time if your worried about par and you score, your beating yourself anyway.

There's and almost 1100 ft hole in Hot Springs (mainly wooded) that plays as a par 3 in tourneys....yea, yea.

Most of the time people keep a certain par on a hole 3 to not confuse people and just keep it all par 3 (54)

Joey i had a good time it was for a great cause but there was alot of negative talk bout the par4 u just didnt hear it personally i think the par4 will turn away alot of players and unless its for cancer or ect i will not be back to hamilton for another tourney because of the new layout good luck with it on ur tourney and no its not cause i cant throw that far or none of that because i finished pretty good and #10-18 had all birdies just dont like new layout thanks for great time yesterday tho to each of u

Pro pads were insane
I would rank this course up there with Bigbee2 from the long tees to B baskets.

Now from the Am tees par 4 would be a joke. Had a great time, whewwwwww, tough first round.

I loved the new layout. I had the opportunity to play the pro pads....there are some true par 4's out there....some of them should not be par 4's for am pads... Only thing i seen wrong with the layout was the danger of hitting other people on the next tee on a few shots. also, new signs would be nice to locate the new pin position...some of them we spent a while looking for... there are some amazing shots and i enjoyed it a lot. I am glad we have another course with good pro level shots. Do not let people down this course because of the difficulty. It is a new layout and has a few kinks...they will work out. That course looked like someone put a lot of hard work and time in it and i respect that.

I think if everyone will go back and read ALL of the posts no one said it was too difficult, if anything it was pointed out that it is WAY too easy for all par fours. I even said that some of the longer holes added to the original layout and should be played as par 3's. Now I did not play from the pro pad and I might have an entirely different opinion of the course then. I would like to point out that some people broke par from the pro pads on the new layout as par fours while if you look at the last two tournaments at Hamilton when the original was played from the pro pads the best anyone has scored is a 57 or 3 over par. Easy question to answer "Which course plays harder based on relation to score?'

My god people enough with the par 4 thing your goal is to shoot well it doesn't matter if it 4,3,or 7 a score is a score.
Re: 2nd Annual Fling For A Cure - Hamilton, AL - March 24, 2012
March 25, 2012 08:55PM
U need to get par out of ur mind....I shot really well and I only know of 1 person that got a 2 from the pro pads....par 3s or par 4s I still shot a 69....majority of those holes need to be par 4s from pros....not that it matters tho..
Re: 2nd Annual Fling For A Cure - Hamilton, AL - March 24, 2012
March 25, 2012 09:01PM
I clearly stated I have not played the pros, so I cannot gauge the difficulty, I can imagine based on the scores it played very tough. I did play from the ams and it is clearly not tough enough to play as par 4's. Like I said before and will state again making a hole only somewhat longer CAN weaken a hole instead of making it harder. If you add another stroke to par it will most surely lessen the skill to play the same hole. Yea eagles can now be made but did you have to work your disc into a more tucked pin and if you dont is it now harder to recover to save par. I think not with the current course.

Hey I try to shoot well every course Ballard to Trace Gold. I do know a good disc hole when I see one. A hole that will yield the same numbers almost all of the time like a three or a two should also yield some fours and fives on bad shots. The way yall have Hamilton set up now as par fours will yield 3's most of the time especially on the more open holes. No hazards to throw a five or six in the mix. Number 3 was already a tough short hole due to all the small trees now unless you kick way off the fairway its an EASY birdie hole. Hey I played it for the first time the other day and I shot 9 down as par 4 or 9 up as 3's. I have an opinion and you have an opinion and I say the original course had more Disc golf holes than the current layout. You seem to love it, so be it. Just glad you raised a ton of money to a good cause.

The older layout didnt play harder from the pro tees, i was @ that tournament and it was like 30mph winds. I wasnt fond of the new layout during practice but from the ling tees 85% are par 4's. I agree with dustin it does need new signs and info updated. The am tees were def not par 4 holes except for maybe 3 holes. Im not gonna jump on a forum and fuss @ someone who put alot of work forward on his home course. Fisher i didnt heqr greqt things about the tees you added to make boonville better either, so kinda the pot calln the kettle black here. Had ffun and will be back at the next one.

"No hazards to throw a five or six in the mix."

hole 1 is the only wide open hole and its not completely.....if you are talking about 9, idk if you have been off the fairway by a foot but i was and i had to pitch out....you have your oppinion...but judging a course because of the par?

With you being a club president for booneville, saying you will not be at a tournament reflects on you if you ever decide to host a tournament. Of course you would offend people by saying that....did you see how many trees they cut to increase the distance and the difficulty? That is a lot of work to do just for free...You should just post something that they could improve on, instead of saying you are not going to come. It discredits the course. Hamilton is a great place to play...i wish i lived closer to it
