Guaranteed cash added to pro divisions payout.

Guaranteed premium merchandise added to amateur divisions payout.

The finest player's party the world has ever seen will be held on Saturday night.

The Louisiana representative to the 2011 USDGC will be chosen at this event.

As usual, tons and tons of CTPs will be out on the courses.

Vegas style Ace Pots for both courses, $1 thru $5.

Event Format

Pools and Courses

Pool, course and tee assignments will be finalized as the event draws near. The number of players registered and the concentration of these players by division will be taken into account before making these assignments. Every effort will be made to avoid overcrowding on the courses - including possibly a few temporary holes.

Schedule

Sign-up for unregistered players, collection of entry fees for pre-registered players and distribution of player's packs will start at 7:30 AM at Acadiana Park and finish at 9:00 AM.

A mandatory player's meeting will follow sign-ups. The first round of play will begin after the conclusion of the player's meeting. Expect a tee-time of approximately 9:30 AM for the first round.

The second round of play will begin approximately one hour after the last scorecard from the first round is turned in. The second round tee time will be announced verbally and posted in writing during lunch.

If necessary, ace pot throw offs will be held while the final scores are being tallied after the second round.

An awards ceremony will be held. All CTP prizes, awards, merchandise and cash won by players will be presented at the awards ceremony.

Lunch

Lunch will be served FREE OF CHARGE following the first round of play.

NO GUARANTEES, but we are working on a crawfish boil for lunch PLUS free beer. If that doesn't materialize, I guarantee we'll have something good to eat. Please indicate if you will be joining us for lunch when you register.

Player's Party

We invite all of our players to join us in enjoying the Festival Internationale de Louisiane in downtown Lafayette on Saturday night following the tournament.

It is one of the largest FREE outdoor music festivals in the nation. It features traditional Cajun, Zydeco and Swamp Pop music along with acts from the Carribean, Latin American, France, Africa and Canada. Food and drinks are available and arts and crafts from all over the world are on display. In addition, since it takes place in downtown Lafayette, most bars and restaurants are open for business throughout the festival site. It is worth coming to town just for the party alone, much less a fun-filled day of disc golf, great music, good food and drinks.

The Festival starts on Wednesday night and runs through Sunday. Saturday night's lineup includes some Acadiana favorites, The Lost Bayou Ramblers and Cory Ledet and his Zydeco Band.

For more information, check out the Festival's website http://www.festivalinternational.com/site349.php

Directions, Lodging and Contact Information

Hotel

An official tournament hotel will be announced as soon as an agreement is reached. Booking at the last minute might be difficult due to the enormous number of people in town that weekend for the Festival. Don't wait until the last minute to get a room.

Camping

As always, camping is available at Acadiana Park's Campground. Get more info at http://www.visitusa.com/louisiana/camping/acadianaparkcampground.htm. I doubt they will fill up, but expect a bigger than usual crowd at the campground this weekend too.

Acadiana Park

From I-10, turn South at exit 104 (Louisiana Ave). Turn left on Alexander St. Acadiana Park is approximately 1/2 mile down Alexander on the left hand side. The parking lot is just past the playground, before the tennis courts. Hole 1 for the Ace Run is behind the bathrooms to the left of the parking lot. Hole 1 for the Duzee is behind the soccer fields in front of the parking lot.

For GPS users, Acadiana Park's physical address is 1005 E. Alexander Street, Lafayette, LA

Sponsorship

Regardless of the level of support, all sponsors will be recognized verbally at the event and on all literature including the tournament's website.

Hole Sponsorship - $20 - The sponsor's name or logo will appear on a sign at one hole per sponsorship.

Shirt List Sponsorship - $40 - A list of sponsor's names will be featured on the back of the tournament's tee shirt.

Shirt Logo Sponsorship - $100 - Sponsor's logo will be featured on the back of the tournament tee shirt and their name will be included prominently on the list as well. Only 10 logo sponsorships will be sold to guarantee visibility on the shirts.

Merchandise Sponsorship - provides opportunities for individuals or businesses to support the event without contributing monetarily. These items can be distributed as ring-of-fire or CTP prizes or can be bulk items which are included in the player's packs. Merchandise sponsors will receive recognition and promotional consideration.

Contact me to discuss these or other sponsorship opportunities - acadianadiscgolfassociation@gmail.com
again jacques, you have outdone yourself. this is truly going to be an extravaganza.
Jacques, I'm good for a hole sponsorship. I have to decide if I want to attend a grand nephew's wedding, or go play the tournament and probably tick off my brother. I'm thinking play the Spring Fling. Life has its priorities.
La Cote DGC Ragley will sponsor a Tee Shirt sponsor. You only need 9 now.

Great job on the info Jaques! Assuming the 144 cap isn't met (and i hope it is) is there a deadline for pre-registration? I may not know until the day before if I can make it.
David, thanks for another fine sponsorship.

Keith, got you on the shirts for a logo sponsorship. Thank you sir!!!

Joe, no deadline on registering. If it fills, we may add a few holes. I encourage everybody to register as soon as they can. Once again, we aren't asking people to pre-pay, just RSVP and let us know you're coming and what shirt size you need. You know there is no way we wouldn't have a spot for you if you decide to play so go ahead and sign up.
With a little help from our friends, we've got tournament flyers up throughout Louisiana, part of Texas and after tomorrow they will be in Mississippi and Alabama too.

Registrations are trickling in. I'll post a list this weekend. Check out the tournament website and get yourself all signed up.

Thanks to Mr. Scott Comeaux, our little Disc Golf tournament is mentioned in the current edition of Community Chronicles, Lafayette's newest periodical and will be featured in a print story in an upcoming issue. Check it out at their website.

Placing the disc order tomorrow which will include some blizzard and metal flake champion plastic.
The 2012 Louisiana representative spot to the USDGC has been chosen to be determined at the Spring Fling!

Upon conferring with our State PDGA Coordinator, the qualifications to be met are...

1. Resident of Louisiana
2. PDGA member before the USDGC tournament
3. Willing and able (logistically and financially) to travel to the USDGC and represent our State

The Pool A (professional/advanced division) player with the lowest score at the tournament who meets these criteria wins this year's spot at the championship which is returning to the "traditional" format.
Hey guys from Lafayette, and anyone staying in town the Saturday night, looking forward to a great night at the Festivale, anyone wanting info or just wanting to go, let me know and I'll make sure y'all have a good time. I'm sure me and the Lafayette Crew will be in full force that night!!!!!!
Jacques put JMA down for a t shirt spot please

Actually Jacques the USDGC this year is not the traditional format. It's half traditional and half stupid handicap system from last year. The State Rep spots are for entry into the handicap side of the USDGC.
@ Mightylou - got it sir and please extend our gratitude to JMA for another sponsorship. I will have the website updated with all of the sponsor logos and sponosor links in the next day or so.

@ BluffMagee - Understood and thanks for the clarification.

mister bogey,

Marvelous Marv is riding the Vibe from I-20 and US 171 to vermilionville. That will make at least 3 of us. Hope Lou can come avenge his 1 shot down in January. Maybe he can sprinkle some Grand Coteau water on his shoulder. If Marv balks, we'll go kidnap his silly derrierre, and drag it down here. Oorah!
The last time I talked to him, Louis was planning on being here. Marvin and I will work on him.
Question for the old farts, should the trophy read "Senior Grandmasters" or "Legends" this year?

Of course by "old farts" I mean "distinguished elder statesmen". LOL, y'all know I'm only kidding.

Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/22/2012 07:08PM by jacques.
I think it should read "Old Farts". Or maybe "Three Years Older Than Dirt".

Let Marvin, Joe, and Lou choose. I am just the youngster they are picking on. :>)
Guys and gals, NOW is the time to pre register on the website for this years lafayette spring fling!

How about Sr. Grand Master/Legends? If that will all fit on Marvin's trophy. LOL
Are dogs allowed at the tournament?

That's four-legged. I already know you allow those who play at my level.

That would make me an underdog!
Bring your dog, David. No problem. It can help y'all look for Joe's discs in the woods.

Just so you know, if your dog bites me, I'm gonna bite him back.
Say it ain't so, Joe! I always think of you as Mighty Dog, my hero.

Jacques, have you had your shots? I don't want Ace getting rabid. Say, by the way, have you bitten Lou already?
This tournament update is presented by our fine SPONSORS

Southwest Louisiana Disc Golf
La Cote Disc Golf Course - Ragley, LA
The Aadrvarks
Prejean's Restaurant
Sterling Sugars
JMA Painters

Sponsorship opportunities are definitely still available. I'm going to place the shirt order in a few weeks so get in touch if you are interested in getting your name, business or logo on 100+ shirts and the website.

Speaking of the website, go to http://2012-lafayette-spring-fling.ettend.com/ and join the 55 others who have already registered.

We are approaching half full and the event is still four weeks away, so don't dilly-dally and please don't lolligag. Go to the website and get yourself signed up and official.

Once again, we are not asking for pre-payment, just RSVP and let us know who is coming.

Already signed up...

Just a reminder, EVERYBODY gets a DISC and a SHIRT and LUNCH just for showing up.

"What kind of disc?" you ask.

This kind...

"Awesome", you say, "I always wanted a disc with a crawfish on it."

Last, but not least, TROPHIES.

We must have forgot the trophies because I haven't said anything about them yet, right?

NOT

That's a miniature, all metal basket (12" tall) in a solid marble base.

GUARANTEED TO FIRST PLACE IN ALL DIVISIONS and possibly second and third in others.

I know we usually do top three in all AM divisions, but these are especially tedious and time consuming to make and I don't want to get bogged down on them at the expense of other preparations.

Thanks again to our sponsors and thanks to the players who have already signed-up, it really does make it a lot easier to plan and host an event when you know who is coming.
