This event will be the last time anyone will be able to play the Red course at Burns Park and the first time they can play the course at Reservoir Park.

Have to mention, the parks department is planning for a new LODGE 200 rooms with an indoor/outdoor pool. They are taking away the back 9 of the Red Course with the ground work tentatively being started in October. I did call and find that it might be postponed until the beginning of Jan. 2013. Long story short, they have to purchase the same amount of valued land somewhere else and use it as recreational use, which is causing the problems. If anyones parks department is like ours, you will know they are turtle slow! LOL

I am bringing back the Arkansas State Doubles Championships October 13, 2012 playing 1st round in a 666 format on Blue course and Round 2 at the new Resevoir Park in Little Rock. So, James is correct this might be your last chance to play the full 18 Red Course before they start destroying the course.

Bummer on losing the red course!
Re: The Rock Cities Open
June 07, 2012 08:15AM
I hate that its happening but the new course at Reservoir Park is short heavily wooded and reminds me of a red course with more elavation. Should be fun to play.I hope to see you all there at the tournament. Spread the word for us please.

We do not have a host hotel in mind, but i can get with some in the area to see who has the best deal/accomadations for everyone. I hope you can make it Griff AIIEEE!!!!! Not a bad pre reg list we have so far. Heck we are 2 weeks away from this tournament and everyone on this list has confirmed they are coming (37 people if i counted correctly), so we may cap that sucker at 90 before friday of next week. I know of several more local disc golfers from the Little Rock area that will be there, i hope to see some of my memphis peeps there as well. PM me your email address soi can throw you a flyer to post over there for me please sir.

Well the first annual Rock Cities Open was a success!!! We had a little weather to worry about so we made sure to change the format to a 1st round red course and a 2nd round blue course. We hope everyone enjoyed the final round at Reservoir Park in Little Rock (our first 18 hole course in the capital city). We had 41 discgolfers show up for the event and 0 complaints that i am aware of. I would like to thank the sponsors for this event:

Abby Road North Little Rock -- AKA Dicky and Lori Maxwell
When you are in town please make sure to stop by their store for all of your novelty and disc golf needs @ 5302 Macarthur Rd in North Little Rock.Abbey Road supplied the prizes for this event as well as some sponsorship money that was added to the payout. Thanks guys.

Dylan and Vance Gustus -- Vance was unable to attend but he is in our hearts and we thank him for raising a son like Dylan that provided (through Kroger) gatorades and waters for all three rounds as well as some sponsorship money that was added to the payout. Thanks guys.

Disculture -- supplied a healthy CTP prize that we gave all divisions a crack at. Thanks for stopping by JC and Lacey. Interested in a new disc golf company and want to see what its all about check them out.

The Diamond State Disc Golf Association. -- We sponsored all of the Hot Stamp discs that everyone enjoyed and at no cost to the player. We did not even count those as payout. Our gift to you the players for enjoying this event.

Finally i would like to thank the volunteers: Corie Shin, Keith Helton, Baker Helton, Dylan Gustus, Josh Lindsey and the rest of the DSDGA members that made this event a success.

You guys dont want to miss this one next year becasue it will be bigger and better than this year. Our goal for next years event is 100 players.....stay tuned for the date. Thanks to all who attended and to all of the volunteers. I am at the office right now but if it gets slower in here i will try and post the results if not today then tomorrow they will be up. Thank you SN for doing what you do to make the disc golf world a better place.
