I could see the top three in am go to local players. They play out there every single day.

Giving a free entry fee to the Open division should totally include Women's Open also... Just sayin... :)

Just curious... is there going to be payouts or is it going to be a trophy event?

The '13 SNDC offered an entry to the winner of ONE division. Sorry if it was not your division.

Had a great time Saturday. Thanks to Bill Bullington for running this event, Nathan Pitts for helping Bill, the people who got the course ready to play, and anyone else who had a part in putting this event on. A big thanks to my partner Billy Drake also, had a great time playing with you and it was awesome to get a win, been a while for me. That second round was fun and it was a battle all the way to the end.

A few notes on the tournament itself:

The police were great! Came up to us in the burger king where we stopped for breakfast to ask us about the tournament. Even gave us an escort into the park after we turned into the wrong lot. On this note, some people need to learn to show some respect to the group this tournament was benefiting... I'll leave it at that

If the TD has never been to the course someone else should do the players meeting... not have 3-4 people talking over each other trying to explain OB and such. I though this came off as very bush league in front of the people you were raising money for.

Both teams we played with were a lot of fun and had great attitudes. Travis/Tyler and Sean/Robert... Really enjoyed meeting and playing with you guys!
Sean, if you want that gazelle just let me know where to send it

On to the course...

Great looking park that appeared to be very well maintained. Quite a few poke and hope holes though... I'm all for making a player hit a tight line off the tee but 1) it should be wider than 4' and 2) they should be rewarded for doing so. This place has the potential to be a really good course if an experienced designer could spend a little time there. Here are my opinions of the holes...

Hole 1- Good hole from both pads. Pro pad could have been moved 10' in any direction to avoid teeing from loose gravel.

Hole 2- Good hole from both pads

Hole 3- NO fairway... Both pads were fine but after the initial gap it was ALL luck. Needs a number of trees taken out.

Hole 4- Great green! Crappy driving lines. Tees were fine although the pro pad was too close to hole 3s basket

Side note: Combining hole 2 and 3 would make a great par 4... remove enough trees from #3 mid fairway and cut back both corners leading to #4s basket.

Hole 5- Good hole from both pads

Hole 6- WTF... This one wins the award for potential best hole on the course that is actually the worst. Needs FAIRWAYS! 6" stump in the MIDDLE of the pro pad... come on. AM pad was fine although there was still no fairway

Hole 7- Good hole from both pads

Hole 8- Good hole from both pads

Hole 9- Really liked this hole

Hole 10- I'll just say you should NEVER have a tree in the MIDDLE of the tee pad... And again, give the player a fairway! If you hit the 5'-8' wide gap off the tee with the proper height and angle you should be rewarded... not just hope to get lucky beyond that. Could be a really good hole

Hole 11- Good hole although the pro pad was severely up hill and very uneven/lumpy. Again, moving it 10' in any direction would have solved this

Hole 12- Fine

Hole 13- Good hole from both pads

Hole 14- Good hole from both pads

Hole 15- Pro pad had no good line to the basket AM pad was ok

Hole 16- Fine

Hole 17- Really liked this hole... but again, Pro pad was terrible

Hole 18- Really liked this hole... but again, Pro pad was terrible

Anyway, hard to beat a day in the park with beautiful weather and good groups... even if you've got a gimpy arm and putt poorly!

Congrats to all the winners

Marshall

On hole 10...there is a bout a 20' hyzer gap if you looked to the right.....I agree with alot of what you are saying though.

Marshall,
Good post and good suggestions. You are correct, even the local players want a few trees cut but what I was told by the Park Director is that a portion of the disc golf course (10 - 12) and 13 & 14 tee areas are built on the Alabama Forestry Commissions land and the Park Department does not have the rights to cut any more trees. They have discussed the tree issue with the Commission and they say no more tree cutting, maybe in due time things will change but until then they don't want to make a big deal about it because the Forestry Commission can easily say move the baskets off our property. Hopefully concrete pads are in the future to solve the pro pad issues. I believe if enough local players would start playing the long/pro pads they would like them as much as the short/am pads. As they are hosting more tournaments they will find out that the long/pro concrete pads are needed.

In previous events, 6 and 10's tee box was moved because of hazards. If there is a tree in the tee pad, I would say play the am pad from now on and everyone would probably be fine with it....the 2 issues is on the hardest 2 holes and its a hard birdie from either pads.

It's hard enough to get a par from the pro pads on those 2 holes

pro pads leading up to this tourney were fine. believe tim brown marked them. WHAT HAPPENED? 10 is the worst pro tee ever played!! not 1 but 2 trees in the middle of the tee? i agree completely with Marshall bout the holes and design. i was sooooo lookn forward to this course. Then we get there to see pro tees no longer on flat spots? and with trees in atleast 2 of the pro pads? We may claim to be pro but cmon man.

awesoome course. be back soon. you shouldnt be penalized with your tee shot cause you are playing pro. give all tees best flat surface without trees or bushes in them. HAD A GREAT TIME!!!

please someone help that course so people will want to go there. there are lot of courses to choose from. These days you have to keep em coming back. So, next yr they dont think. well, ive played these others and well aggieland? cause its not true!! You know what im saying. One of my favorite courses and get there to be disappointed with the pro tees. where they had been moved to. NOT WHERE THEY HAVE BEEN.

Great things to take from this course..... awesome people in hamilton, beautiful scenery , has every shot, pro tees on every hole, food nearby, bag holders, tee signs, nicely manicured fairways for the most part, distance and short shots, just love it. Thanks for having us. cant wait to be apart of another.

PLAYED WITH SOME AWESOME GUYS ON TOP OF ALL THAT!!!! HAD ALOT OF FUN!!!

One of my top 10 courses but majority of the pro tees were not just bad but HORRIBLE, the funny thing is they were flagged this way, did whoever flag them look at them? Lol. Every pro tee was upriver uneven, up or down a hill, trees in them or stobs.

Other than that, awesome tournament. Also wasn't a fan of the $21 CFR players pack disc but that's another topic, glad we raised some money for these great people serving the public!

Pro tees were horrible. They all have normal pro tees but for some reason they decided to just make some up. Hole six pro tee was the worst. Next time just move it up away from the stump. Also not a fan of the CFR players pack but it was all for a good cause. Had fun!

This was definitely a fun tournament. I always love playing doubles. The best part of the tournament is when Robby threw a tomahawk on hole 6 and then he caught it before it hit the ground... now how many times have you caught your drive? lol
