Battle in the 'Boro - Oct 6, 2012 - Jonesboro, AR

It is almost tourney time in Jonesboro, AR again. Last year's inaugural event saw a full field of 72 players. Circle Oct 6 on your calendar and start making plans now. All the details will be released in the next few days!

We have installed 4 new permanent holes so it will be TWO ROUNDS of 22!!

Just a heads up, I Doug Trantham will be the Tournament Director for this event once again this year and look forward in doing so. We had an amazing year last year and couldn't have had a larger turnout. I will be setting up an online registration for this event ASAP to get people in! You will not want to miss out. The Ring of Fire alone was worth coming to. Don't forget the added cash that poured in from last year.

This is a great weekend to plan a trip! Friday night at the ASU Convocation Center at 7:00 is the Johnny Cash Music Festival with Dirks Bentley and Willie Nelson. Also on stage that night is Rosanne Cash! You can make this show after Friday doubles.

Then Saturday, after the Battle in the Boro is a GREAT night to spend in downtown Jonesboro. The third annual BBQ Fest downtown with a free concert by .38 Special!!! This event is totally free with live music all nignt long!!

Bring the whole family for a great weekend in Jonesboro!

Details on the tournament tomorrow!!

Local Directions: From Memphis: take I-55 north, exit US 63 to Jonesboro/Trumann. In Jonesboro, exit #45 (Southwest Dr/ State 141). Circle around to right and go over bridge. Turn left at light (Parker Rd.). Turn right at Craighead Forest sign (Culberhouse Rd). About 3 miles to park entrance on left (see park sign).

From Little Rock: Hwy 49 into town. Turn right at first light (Parker Rd). Turn right at Craighead Forest sign (Culberhouse Rd). About 3 miles to park entrance on left (see park sign).

In park, take right at stop sign then left on access road #6. Park on the left, course on right across from ball fields. Look for Kiosk with course maps.

My apologies...

I jumped the gun on the $200 Skins Match.

Due to:
1: The number of participants we are expecting
2: The GREAT Ring of Fire after the last card is turned in
3: The fact that it will get dark much quicker on October 6

We believe we would not have enough daylight to do the Sknis match after everything was over, so the Skins Match has been scratched.

Hole A, B, C, & D are finalized and were cleaned up this weekend. The Course is going to be in great shape come October 6!

And Today I received $200 from Shamrock Custom Cabinets, Jonesboro.

The tournament is gaining some major steam and from what I understand through facebook and word of mouth, we have around 71 players pre-registered so far. Last year we had 72 players registered and it was a fantastic event. If you plan to attend this years event, list your name here please!

I'm not sure we'd get more than 88, but if we did, we could always re-add the two alternates we used last year that we had not intended on using this year, OR put more than 4 on a card...keeping our options open!

Added another $350 yesterday!

Jonathan Ray-open..... along with all the Grass Roots discs and gear will be there. I know of at least another 15-20 from Memphis that are coming but dont know if they have pre registered.

Circle 3 Disc Golf would like to sponsor two holes. Can we bring the $35 on the day of the event?

Also, Robby Uhrman (Open Men) & Annie Dickerson (Am Women) will be there.

This will be Annie's second event ever. She was wondering if she should play Am Women or play with the Novice division. Thoughts?

I think Annie will do fine with the Am women. As of now, I think for Am women we have De Snedecor, Cindy Wilson, hopefully Missie Chambers and Lisa Vogt.
