15th Annual Tishomingo Fall Classic - October 13th & 4th, 2-12

I would love to have the chance to host a tournament at tishomingo state park and I will get with bill and see when some open dates are.

But honestly, $1000 added and the payout was below the entry and who won the $20 wal-mart card? Say Bill had no added cash, does that mean that would have been $1000 less of a payout? That would put the payout to $1983. Their is 10 divisions, so if the money was spread equally over every division (which it is not and i understand why it is not) it would come out to be $198.30 per division. Do all TD's make this much bank b/c I might want to change my career?

You will notice that only certain TD's are in this for money. And yes, some are in the business of TDing events to just take money from those who are willing to pay them to play an event. It is kind of sad that some would be in it to make money, but it happens all the time. I have also noticed, that people who are in it for money, and not the love, usually have less fun events.

Cody, you are mistaken, The young man decided to play in the amateur division, he was told, by me, that he could play either division he wanted! It was HIS choice to step up, he was not forced.

We also had four players show up at the last minute an all signed up as Novice, three of them shot under par on Chickasaw and two shot par on Warrior!

He wasn't forced to move up, but by the Way your comments were to him, he didn't want there to be any trouble so he moved up. He may have not been told that morning he had to play Am, but he was forced to move up in a passive way.

Dustin, the total was a little over $3000, true, but you are forgeting that all that was not cash, and iT does not just get paid back out to the winners of the divisions!

It would have IF;

1 We did not have to pay $3 per head for entry to the park!
2 We did not have to pay $2 per head sanctioning fees, except for the Novice players.
3 We did not pay $50 per hole skins.
4 We did not have any awards to give the winners.
5 We did not have to pay a vendor fee.
6 We did not have to make signs for the new sponsors.
7 We did not have to pay $160 to custom stamp a disc for the event, and the shipping to get them there!

Add those up and you will see more than just the tip of the iceberg!

I also forgot to give out the $20 Walmart card, thanks for reminding me, it is still in the cash box. I think I will got to Walmart and get $20 in gas and see if it will fill the tank I used traveling to get all those sponsors!

Judging by what you have been saying, if you had run this event, you would be needing to come up with a little over $1000 out of your pocket to pay the bills!

More you don't know!

Grass Roots was also a vendor, some of their plastic was in the payout!

Only the NEW sponsor signs "were" made, which was a $15 charge, all the rest went to the event!

Yes I make the Plaques, and to do so I have to buy the plaques, the inks, the special printers to print them, the heat press to press them, I spend time to design them, and the discs, I spend time to print and press them, all for around $20 less than what others in the same business do them for. This all takes time and money to make happen.

I spend, on the average, about 150 hours working on an event, lets just say four weeks. That averages out to a little over $6 an hour, Big money the way you put it! But there is no gaurantee that you will get it back, bad weather, poor attendance, lots of things can mess it up.

Sure made a pretty penny, but much too few to call it making much of a living. I just don't where you get the idea that there is so much money being made! If it were true I would be running events every week!

I don't see you on here running down every other event you play in, so I can only conclude that you have a personal problem with me. So be it, it's not like I am going ot loose any sleep over it!

At least when youi go to work, you KNOW what you are making per hour, and you KNOW what is going to be on your check at the end of the week!

You had it right at the end of your statement when you said "i don't think"

Consider yourself "corrected"

Don't change you career yet!

If you had nothing added to an event it would go like this:

Sanctioning fees would come out of the entry fee!
Park entry fees would come out of the entry fee, if applicable!
Awards would come out of the entry fees of each division!

What you had left would be the payout!

On another note, there were no fees taken out for the Chickasaw Disc Club! That has only happened maybe once or twice that I know of. Can't say how it was done when I was out of town those three years!

Did all of the hotstamps go towards the event payout or did some go in your truck? (that came from sponsorship money?)

Did you or the event recieve more sponsorship money on this particular event?

Looking back could this event been payed out to the players better than what you did?

The total was a little over $4000, $3060 was entry fees alone...

I personally have nothing against you Bill. We get along fine in person. I just feel that you have taken advantage of some of the players at this event. I came out even if not better with mine and Pazlee's winnings. Its not me that I am trying to stand up for.

Hmm, I don't recal that you were a part of that conversation! I told him that he could do whatever he wanted to do, play nay division he wanted, HE made a comment about not wanting to make anyone mad or cause any trouble. To which I replied that there were no problems and for him to sign up where he wanted to, at the time, though, there were no other Novice players, they did not show up until long after Chase signed up, in fact it was right at players meeting time!

And some MORE you don't know! Pay attention, CLASS is in order!

The two color Hot Stamped discs were over $1000, they were paid for by ME, along with the shipping, art, and stamp fees! EVERY SINGLE AMATEUR PLAYER THAT CASHED GOT AT LEAST ONE! And @#$%& skippy the rest went into my trailer!

TOTAL sponsor money for this event was $922!
Out of that sponsor money came:
SN Fees - $126
Park Fees - $201
Vendor Fees - $35
Skins - $250
Awards - $168
Air Horns - $30
Laminated Flyers - $20
Print costs - $50
Gas to get sponsors - $70
Paid labor - 40

And I am sure I am forgetting some things that are paid for over time like leader boards (around $100 each plud shipping), storage boxes for the discs (around $30 with shipping), A vehicle, fuel, and trailer to transport everything, etc! That adds up real quick, but you can't take it out of any one event! That is why there is a margin between wholesale and retail on everything, to cover if you missed something.

As far as "could the payout have been better". Of course, with MORE sponsorship, no custom stamped discs, less or no skins, and give everything away for what you paid for it. In the end everythng has to be paid for! Nothing is for free!

Tell you what, step up, put on your big boy britches and run the Ice Bowl in January! It's all yours!

Really? You want to lie on a public forum? Do you not recall the things you said to him through the TDGA facebook page?

Bill McCarty: "Michael, actually novice is not a division, is is a way for those who have never played to get some tournament experience! If you have played in an event before the Tish Fall classic then you will not play novice, you will have to play another division! If you sign up for novice and have play in another event you will be DQ'd! You entry few all winnings will be forfeit!"

You told him he would be DQ'd. He posted on the TDGA facebook page, and you told him he would be DQ'd. Unless there is some other Bill McCarty who runs tournaments in the area, which there isn't! It is right there, you typed it. Now do you want to change your story?

Well Bill i will start from the top....

So the hostamps were your personal plastic and nothing to do with the event or added cash? The reason i put (that came from sponsorship money?) was because I was unsure and asked you about it.

The $250 thats for the skins, That was calculated on page 3 of this forum with the rest of the awards...you did include the skins in the total 2900 payout.

Park and SN fees are understandable.

Vender fees was split between u and grass roots.

Awards were also calculated on pg 3 of this forum except they were marked up to $20. (10 divisions 220 instead of your 168 unless all leaders didn't recieve a plaque). you included that in the 2900 total payout on pg 3.

$30 for airhorns?

$70 for flyers?

Gas to get sponsors? -20 because you took walmarts sponsorship and put it in your pocket.

You paid 40 to helpers, understandable.

Bill your total payout is a little lower than 3000, your entry + added cash is around 4000. Most of your payouts were plastic. It should have been easy to meet the same payout as your entry at $3060

You also posted a sponsorship update that was closer to $1100. I copied it and pasted it below.

Bill, reason I asked if Chickasaw disc golf club got any money is because at the 2011 Spring Tournament you took a out $1 for expenses for the club, a club that only has one beneficiary...

Bill, no one is mad at you, anyone who can do simple math can see you made more than 1st place Open did. Payout was not bad, no one is complaining about that. I'm sure everyone would rather play for a TD who can come out and admit it and say "I turned a pretty profit and I put on a hell of an event" than a TD who is gonna sit back and try to use smoke and mirrors where the funds went.

Last post on the matter, Bill keep doing a great job TDing and see you Saturday after Thanksgiving!
Guys, Bill has had his roasting. Lets move on.

For future reference Bill, maybe you could incorporate a full TD report with everything included, expenses, sponsorships, etc...

As Shane says, "transparency breeds self correcting behavior".

All pros and advanced divisions played Warrior ridge1st , chickasaw 2nd(3 pro pads difference from when the ams played it), warrior 3rd. All The other ams played chickasaw 1st, warrior 2nd, and then chickasaw 3rd. All played the same pads on warrior ridge.
