To expand a bit on what Bubbab had to say about the $3 tournament entry fee: this is not an arbitrary amount of money that the TD dreams up nor the entry fee to the park but a fee that the State of Mississippi imposes for the rental of the park disc golf course(s). If you rent a pavilion, cabin or dining hall you get exclusive rights to that facility during the rental period. No one else can come in and make use of it. The disc golf course is no different. On more than one occasion I have politely informed casual players that they can not use the course during tournament play. If you have an annual park pass you have purchased the right to enter the park at no additional charge, but you can not play on the disc golf course during a tournament since the players have each paid $3 for their sole and exclusive use of that amenity.

The State has severely slashed funding for their parks and many are having to make do with half the personnel they had a few years ago. They have even considered selling some of the state parks to reduce expenses. As a TD I am happy to collect $3/head for tournaments if this will help the parks and their disc golf courses remain viable public asset.
