SN CUP 2013
December 27, 2012 01:15PM
Well ladies and gentleman the SN Cup is coming back to the REZ in Jackson, MS. With the major help of the JUDGES, I will be putting on this event in April. Looking at the 13th and 14th as of right now, but waiting on conformation that we will allowed to be able to use the park. We will be limiting the teams to 12 teams again this year and would love to have it as a one city one team even as it has been intended. I will allow a second team from a city if we have not filled all 12 spots by Monday Feb. 18th.

Teams will consist of 2 Open pro, 1 Master age, 1 Woman, 1 Advanced, and 1 Intermediate players. All rosters must be approved by me and I will be harder this year on what goes on with rosters than I have in the past. Please PM me if there are any questions. Registration for a team is $300.

More to come as I get more information on how things will play out this year.

Hogman, so glad you are taking the reigns again. Loved it in the past when you ran it. Id love to bring a team down from Memphis but the weekend you have currently is during the biggest am tournament in the world. Bowling Green Ams. Any chance we could move it forward or backward a weekend? I know there are alot of SN players that go to KY for that tournament.

Isn't it time to add Grandmasters to this event?? You are excluding some very good players and people who have long been a part of SNs. Just saying... these guys are the cornerstone that our series is founded on .....
Re: SN CUP 2013

They are allowed to play in the masters division and the open division.

I agree with Bud on this one.

I think a GM rather than a 2nd Pro would make it more interesting...

Its hard for some to find what they have now on their teams as is. I think that would throw a wrench in some people's plans to attend.

I personally think grandmaster would best replace intermediate-- having intermediate creates too much controversy about who should be eligible to play it. Additionally, every city has plenty of 50+ old players-- that would be much easier to fill than the woman spot for a lot of places.

Grandmaster slot would take the Gulf Coast team out.

I still say you should do weight classes instead of skill levels - flyweight up to heavyweight.

Really! 14 of them showed up at the NO event a few weeks ago, which by the way was the largest of the pro fields at that event. Open your eyes Eric, Randy Boyette is just one of several great grand master candidates in your area.

Don't listen to Kevin. BR gonna bring Ronnie in as a ringer in GM.

LOL. Just kidding.

Have noticed a BIG uptick in the GM field. It was the biggest pro field at our last tournament also.

Don't listen to Jacques! Weight classes would kick me out because there's no super heavyweights around to compete with me. LOL

J/K Glad you have decided to come back and TD this awesome event Hogman!

Casey,

I agree that intermediate should be on the chopping blocks. Replacing it with a second Advanced player may be the way to go. Hopefully some day each team will be able to produce a Junior player; and I don't mean in stature, Jacques.

What about 2 Pro, 2 Am, 1 woman, 1 Master Plus? With the 2 Am encompassing any non pro field, master any master field? Which is pretty much how it is now......;) lol

There would be NO problem filling the Grandmaster slot for sure... 29 at the Howler and every tourny has GM as the largest money division these days... but I was not talking about replacing a division, merely increasing, but you would have to add two... what other division should be added?? Junior would be really cool or Am women which would make the most sense. I doubt that it will happen this year but someday, maybe....... although dropping one of the open men would be easy and you would be adding a pro man. By the way Allen... this is Buddy Pacatte- I did drop down to masters as you suggest, qualified for Mobile1 (could have claimed one of the open spots, but played where it would make our team strongest) and won the overall in said masters division... I understand your system, just thought it would allow some cool AND deserving players a chance to participate. Thankyou for listening... good luck with your event.

Well I agree with you on Randy is on of the great GM's, however he lives in Louisiana. I would say he is a mix of either NOTeam or B.R. No matter what I'm excited, and Lafayette will not finish better then my team this year.

Wanted to make sure to state that all players wanting to participate must compete in at least 3 SN santioned events in the 2012-13 season to participate. Tournaments coming up will count towards those 3 tournaments.

Also participants will need to live realtivley close to the city/town they are playing with. I will make determinations on a case by case basis on distances and such.

Would really like to have 12 teams this year.....Lets fill it up!

So glad to hear your doing this again Al. Lots of hard work and time. Thx. You know we have a trophy for this tourney, so no need to buy one.
