There was some reshuffling of what division some people played in from the list.
This is what we have so far I believe.

Open
Barrett is in first at -10

Masters
Shane is in first -10

Pro Grandmasters
Randy is leading by a couple of strokes over Jabba.

Sorry I don't know more, this is just what I heard at dinner.

Can say I am a little p!ssed off after this tournement. Why you ask?

Well for one this was The State Championships

One reason was a low turn out, and why was that?
Tupelo, Hattiesburg, Gulf Coast, your representation was EXTREMELY POOR.
I did see people from Louisiana, Alabama, and Florida, and in-state people could not make the journey. P!ss Poor!!!!

It's amazing that seveal J.U.D.G.E.S. members went up to Tupelo not to long ago to support them and play the SNACS. How many of them came down to support the JUDGES and play the State Championships?

It was really nice to see how many other Clubs want the support of others, but will not in turn support others.

Secondly, this was the State Championships.
How in the world can there be another Tournement in the state of Mississippi on the same weekend as the Championships????
The BOD was really on the ball on that one!

I don't know why everyone has an attitude lately, but I do know that several of the JUDGES travel. They travel to Alabama, they travel to Louisiana, and they sure travel to events in Mississippi. They travel regardless of what club is throwing the functing, because they love disc golf, they love to promote disc golf, and they love to help out other clubs.

It is time to get off your @ss and support other clubs in the state and help grow the game. Quit being a little @#$%& and make the travel.

And before any of you internet tough guys decide to try to start a fight. I have been to Tupelo, Starkville, Jackson, Canton, Hattiesburg, Gulf Coast, West Monroe, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. I have not made it to Mobile only cause I have not been able to work it out where I get that weekend off.
Re: 2013 Mississippi State Disc Golf Championships - Sept 28/29, 2013
October 02, 2013 02:18PM
Parplus, I don't know who you are since your name is hidden but if I could have attended I would have. I played in no other event last weekend. But I will tell you what TUPELO did do for that event. We sent a $222 sponsorship so you could be paid out even more.
Re: 2013 Mississippi State Disc Golf Championships - Sept 28/29, 2013
October 02, 2013 02:44PM
ParPlus,

I dont know who you are, but i can tell you your comments are unnecessary and uncalled for.

1st off those cities you mentioned in your post did there part to help raise funds for the event. Funds that you benefited from if you were there. Bigger payouts, free lunches, free players packs all of that was made possible by those cities running an event to go toward the CHAMPIONSHIP.

Again in case you missed this on an earlier post, here are the cities that raised funds.

Jan - Jackson, MS - The Rez - Groundhog Grappler - Raised $240 for championship!!
Feb - Tupelo, MS - Veterans Park - Double Barrel Shoot Out - Raised $222 for the championship!!
Apr - Horn Lake, MS - Latimer Lakes Park - Civil War: Battle of Horn Lake - $132 Raised for the championship!!
Apr - Clinton, MS - Buddy Butts Park - Buddy Butts Park Doubles - $ 156 Raised for the championship!!
May - Columbia, MS - Pearl River Landing - Columbia Clash $120 Raised for the championship!!
June - Columbus, MS - Whispering Pines - Summer Sizzler $75 Raised for the championship!!
July - Biloxi, MS - Hiller Park - Hiller Park Open - $228 Raised for the championship!!
July - Jackson, MS - The Rez - Rez Dawg Open -$135 Raised for the championship!!

Now for ppl not showing up for this event there were a lot of unforeseen circumstances; people taking care of sick family, some had kid priorities, some had work, some are very much church goers and do not play Sundays.

Pre-reg may have hurt the event, being a two day may have hurt the event (Disc Golfers aren't generally the wealthiest ppl so getting hotels for the night may have drawn ppl away), some ppl are injured.

Trust me i spoke with several individual who did not make the trip that would usually do so, stuff happens and some ppl have other major priorities.

Collegiates started up this past weekend so that hurt attendance.

I for one am not upset about the turnout. Everyone i spoke with had a great time at the event, it was very easy to run and I have a fun time doing it.

Thanks for trying to go to bat for the tournament, but there are better ways to go about it.

I look forward to hopefully running it again next year, unless another city wants to take it over.

No Low Putt, if you are satified with throwing a "State Championship" with sub par attendance, then I am more than happy for you.

Scratch my comments and everyone rejoice. Less than 60 people for a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

And Hudd if I am correct Tupelo did not send that money. That was raised at a tourney that Tupelo threw. That came from the attendees of the tourney, not the club.

Also if you want say your club donated it, then thanks for that.

Tupelo 222
Jackson 240 + 156 + 135 = 531 <---Stepped up

Would I have liked more attendance, of course, am I happy with the event I ran, you better believe it! But i am also aware of other things going on around the area that could keep ppl away, sometimes that happens. Heck we are an 80 plus member club but a lot of our own members couldn't make it for one reason or another.

As for any club/city that ran an event for the Championship, they didn't have to do that, and to discount that could hurt future events. I made sure to thank every city that helped out, put them as hole sponsors, and as shirt sponsors. I personally kickstarted the MST and made it a point to run three events to show that Jackson is dedicated to help make the championships better, i hope to lead by example but also i am diplomatic in my approach in trying to get other cities involved either with attendance or sponsorship.

Good job Lloyd. I wasn't there but im sure that yall did a great job. Everyone that was involved in any way should be thanked instead of griping and complaining about everything. If someone thinks they could have done it better they should walk the walk instead of running their mouth on a public internet forum. Real smooth.
ParPlus, how about a name? All your past post you look like a complainer. Man up and add your name.

Tupelo didn't sponsor this event? $222 didn't just fall out of the sky.

Say what you want about attendance but 50 players at a MS tournament is now a mark in my book. I can't tell you how many tournaments I've been to lately that had less than 50. So be thankful there were over 50. People just aren't playing tournaments.

Tupelo Fall Classic had a bad turn out (possibly because it was right after the SNAC)
Wall Doxey had a bad turn out.

There wasn't a tournament in MS the same weekend. Matthew Gardner held a 1 day tournament at Bud Hill, excuse me that a 1 day tournament an hour 1/2 away is a lot more feasible than a 2 day tournament 3 hours away if you are playing an amateur division.

Lloyd, looks like you did a great job.

Everybody knows that par plus is the man when it comes to disc golf.
So for him to get on here and complain is totally justified.
His complaining and whining is gonna change the SN just you wait and see.
Since y'all got called out by some unknown d-bagg, you better change your ways.
This happens every tourney, someone is unhappy Bc of some asinine reason and they get on the forum, anonymously I must add, and they spew verbal diarrhea.
You just look like an ass par puss.
Give it up.

I am from Hattiesburg and yes, we had a poor showing. I for one was traveling to visit family and in all truth there are a lot of people here who just don't really care for traveling and playing tournments. They would rather play a casual round on saturday morning and then spend time with their families, and there is not a thing in the world wrong with that. Tournaments are not for everyone, especially two day events. Do I wish more had showed? Definitely. Do I wish I had been available? Definitely. On the plus side those that did attend got a very nice payout and I'm sure you won't hear them complaining. There are only a few select tournaments that continually pull over 50 people. I commend Lloyd and the JUDGES for the work they put in to the Championships and look forward to seeing them in Crystal Springs next month.

Wade, I could not agree more.

Quality event does not equal numbers. Likewise, numbers don't automatically make it a quality event. I don't travel or play many tournaments but I would choose quality over quantity every time! Dilligence, planning, and hard work create quality events. It appears the Championships were just that!

Another year is in the books due to the efforts of Lloyd and the JUDGES! Ya'll are appreciated state-wide!

Thanks from North Mississippi!

I'm sorry for the schedule mishap but my tournament was not in MS it was in TN. I really would have liked to had been there. Again sorry for the mishap and I hope Lloyd can forgive me for the mistake.
Re: 2013 Mississippi State Disc Golf Championships - Sept 28/29, 2013

Whatever.

I have traveled many times to Jackson to play and no with my schedule and family issues there was no other time that I could have rescheduled. You may have lost 5 people from attending because of my tournament. 90% of my players would not have made the trip.

I'm not going to argue with anyone about it. It's over and it happened and I have much more important things to think about than this BS so for all to see this. I don't need anymore pms or phone calls about this issue. My 9 month old son just had kidney surgery so I could care less what any of you have to say to me about the issue.

To Lloyd. I do hope there is not hard feelings but to everyone else that has a problem with me don't bother trying to contact me anymore.

I never once heard Lloyd complain about the bud hill event I don't think that even crossed his mind. It was a well ran tournament that just had low attendance, but fun times where had by all that came I'm sure and besides the horrible rounds I had it was fun just to be off for the weekend and spend time with the guys.
