Both courses are looking pretty good so for. One more work day and they should be just right for some fine disc golf play. Getting very excited to compete in my favorite tournament of the year. Don't get me wrong I am a huge fan of many of the out of town tournaments, but there is nothing as sweet as playing on your home course. Especially when your home courses are in as great of shape as these two are now, and will be after this up coming Saturday's work day.

Registration

24 players registered on DGU right now. That is a lot considering that we are accepting walk-ups on Saturday and the tournament is still a week away. This tells me we are going to have a big field.

Online closes at noon on Friday and I will be emailing the pre-registered players this week to find out which shirt size they wish to reserve.

Go to Disc Golf United and get registered. You will get the size shirt you want plus you won't have to wait in what is sure to be a line Saturday morning.

Courses

Thanks to everybody who came out and helped the last two weekends, Acadiana is looking its springtime finest. Everything is mowed and trimmed, new benches are out on the holes that needed them, pads around the tee boxes are level and dressed, signs are freshly painted and it is looking GOOD.

Pro Men, Pro Women, Pro Masters Men and Advanced - gold tees on Ace Run 1, 2, 7, 10, 12, 16 & 18 - gold tees on Duzee 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13 & 16 - orange tees (concrete) on all other holes on both courses.

Pro Masters Women, Grandmasters, Senior Grandmasters, Advanced, Advanced Masters, Am Men, Am Women - orange tees (concrete) on all holes on both courses.

Recreational & Junior - blue tees (shorter) on Ace Run 1, 2, 10, 12, 16 & 18 - blue tees on Duzee 1, 8, 9, 14 & 16 - orange (concrete) on all other holes on both courses.

Only change from the previous list - we had to abandon plans to cut a new pro fairway on Duzee #5 before the tournament. Everything else is done and ready so go the park and start practicing.

Recap

All of the essential details for this tournament can be easily found in this thread so I'm not going to go over them again. I just wanted to mention a few things.

Online registration closes tomorrow at noon. Got 46 players pre registered - 9 in professional divisions and 37 in amateur, novice and junior divisions. As of now, that leaves 104 shirts and 63 discs left for players packs for walk up registrations. Scroll up to the link to DGU and get signed up if you want to make sure you get your stuff plus skip what I believe will be a long line Saturday morning.

I forgot to include a question on the site for players to input their shirt size so a bulk email was sent out on Wednesday. Nearly everyone responded so I hope to get all of our pre registered players a shirt that fits them.

Discs for pre registered players are a different story, they will be first-come-first-served.

Remember the first 150 players get a tournament shirt no matter which division they play in. In addition, the first 100 non-professional division players get hot stamped GStar discs and mini drivers. I'm sticking to this because I really didn't order extra of either of these. Pre registered players already have their stuff locked down. Everybody else, get here early enough or get left out.

I was shocked when they called "The Acadiana Disc Golf Association" at the main stage of Festival Internationale this evening when they were reading off the names of the supporters and sponsors at the opening ceremonies. I spoke with somebody months ago at their office about ways that we could partner with them but the conversation didn't really go anywhere. Maybe the person I spoke with wrote our name down on the wrong list. Whatever the explanation may be, it was pretty cool and a really nice surprise.

Speaking of Festival for the players joining us from out of town who plan on sticking around Saturday night, I will try to get my hands on a pack of the printed guides that have the schedule of acts, location of food and beverage vendors and a nice map of downtown. Festival is FREE to attend and it takes place throughout the downtown area. Food is outstanding and reasonably priced. Beverage tents have a selection of beer, soda and some have mixed drinks. Parking can be tricky and I recommend one of two large grass lots on Johnston St just past the railroad track. Wherever you park, pay attention to any signs because they do tow - big time.

Tune in to TV-10 in Lafayette tomorrow (Friday) night for the 5:00 & 10:00 newscasts. We filmed a nine-hole round with KLFY's weatherman Chris Cozart for his outdoor segment that is supposed to air then and again on their AM broadcast early Saturday morning. I will post a link once it is available.

Chris promised a good forecast for the Spring Fling during the round while we were filming and he sure did deliver a beauty - temperatures starting at 63 Saturday morning with a daytime high of 84 and a 0% chance of rain.

I am so impressed with the way you guys run your tournaments. I look forward to playing Acadiana for the first time at this tourney. If it is anything like the PaDavis one I attended, I am sure to have a blast.

Laid out six temp holes - 3 per course - to be used if needed tomorrow. I will post about them later and of course I will go over them at the player's meeting. I will make the call on using them later on. Have 4 temp baskets for sure, Lafayette players please bring a metal practice basket tomorrow if you have one.
Tried to register online earlier today (before Noon) and it told me it was closed. Really looking forward to this tourney, guess I just have to wait in the line.
Only thing I can think of is the DGU site is part of Innova in S Carolina so that may be Eastern time. See you tomorrow morning.

My expectations are still for a BIG turnout. In all likelihood we WILL play the temp holes. I will revisit this again tomorrow morning but for those interested they would fit in as follows..

Ace Run - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, A, B, C, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18. Hole A tees off near the restroom on hole 12 (campground hole) and plays toward the front gate of the campground. Hole B tees off across the driveway for the campground and plays along the big pavilion. Hole C tees off in the back of the field next to the pavilion and plays up to the campground driveway. They are relatively short with some OB.

Duzee - 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, D, 14, 15, 16, E, 17, F, 18. Hole D tees off behind the pro tees for hole 14 and plays just shy of 14's am box down the power line right-of-way. Hole E tees off on the road that you usually walk down between 16 & 17 and the basket is in the clearing by 17's pro tee. Hole F tees off next to the new bench adjacent to the tennis courts and the basket is just behind hole 18's tee box. Hole D is a straight tunnel shot, Hole E is a strong turnover shot with plenty of foliage, Hole F is open field and takes advantage of all the trees near the tennis court between 17 & 18.

Everything is ready, locked and loaded. See y'all tomorrow morning. ADGA and Flight Club players, show up with your helping shoes on - no need to ask, we will need help with something.
