Elvis Fling with the King 2011

Veteran's Park - Tupelo, Mississippi
Saturday & Sunday, June 4-5, 2011
58 Holes over two rounds!

Yes, you read that right. Only two rounds will be played this year. However, each round will be a grueling 29 holes that will give all players new and exciting challenges! Word to the wise ..... hydrate, eat a nice breakfast, and expect a four hour round! Water/Shades stations will be available on appropriate holes and some snacks will be available to keep ya going!

In year's past we have fought the "Running with the King" 5K race that runs through the course and limits incoming automobile traffic from about 8am til 8:45am. We also would like locals and out-of-towners to have some extra time to participate and enjoy the Elvis Festival in downtown Tupelo. In past years, we've stuffed in so much disc golf it left little time for anyone interested in partying with Elvis!

Saturday: Saturday's round will begin with the player's meeting at 9:45 with an estimated initial round start of 10:15-10:30. All cards will be divisional (as best we can manage) and all divisions will tee from the Am pads, All baskets will be in their "B" positions with the exception of six holes that will be in their "A" location. There will be a total of 29 holes played with some holes slightly lengthened and two temps holes thrown in to keep things interesting and to challenge all players with some "new looks"! Basket #9 will be in the "King position" both rounds so everyone has two chances at this rarely played hole.

Sunday: There will be no need to gather for Sunday's round. Just show up at your designated hole and be ready to tee off at 9:30am. Sunday's round will be similar to Saturday's except Advance and Pro divisions will play from the Pro pads and the six baskets original in their A positions will be moved to the long positions.

Awards have been ordered for the following divisions:
Men's Pro
Women's Pro
Men's Grand Master (3+ to make)
Men's Advance Master (3+ to make)
Men's Advance
Men's Am
Women's Am
Junior

The tournament will be SNDG sanctioned, but not PDGA this year.
This is one of SN's first events for their calendar year, so we hope many of you are moving up a division!
(SN calendar year starts in June, and ends in May.)

Tournament Directors:
Grayson Robbins -- 662-891-2656 -- discgolf@tupelo.ms
Keith Teeple -- 662-397-5791 -- keith_teeple@yahoo.com

Registration will be at Veterans DGC, behind Hole #1 at the Rockin' Robin Snow Cone stand on Friday from Noon until 7pm and Saturday morning from 7:30 to 9:15am.

Alcoholic and narcotic refreshments are illegal and will not be tolerated at this tournament ... whether it be prior, during, or after actual tournament play. There will be no 2nd warnings. If you partake with any of the above you are risking much more than your registration fee, you are jeopardizing our partnerships in this tournament.

Registration Fees:
Open Men: $50
Pro Women: $40
Pro Master/Grandmaster: $40
Advance Men: $40
Advance Master: $40
Am Men: $35
Am Women: $35
Novice/Junior/Recreational: $20

There will be the usual abundance of CTP's and a Ring of Fire event! Possibly some additional events depending on how well the sponsor $$ roll in! Awards will be the traditional Midnight pottery plaques for all divisions and engraved bricks for the overall winner's in Men, Women, and Juniors!

No player's pack this year but tournament t-shirts will be available at a minimal costs for those desiring a commemorative t-shirt!

Inncolor discs for this year's tournament are limited. Only sixty discs were ordered and ten are allocated towards divisional winners! Hole sponsors have first choice on the remaining 40! Hole sponsorships are $50 and includes an Inncolor disc. They'll be on Ontario and Roc Plus discs. Need to see the disc's image? = [tupelodiscgolf.com]

Any questions or concerns, please contact Grayson or Keith. We look forward to seeing you!

Here is a small google satellite map of some of the tweaks you can expect. We're working toward getting the temps sleeves in so these holes can be practiced soon. Exact holes/format/O.B. will be advised in detail soon. This about sums it all up. Ya'll let me know if anything was missed! [tupelodiscgolf.com]

Thanks Dillon. By the way...
Grayson typed all the above information.
I only copied this information to this SN forum, and other forums, for publicity.
(I also created this new FTWK forum topic, to have the information at the top...)

Grayson, please put me down for a $50 sponsorship. Send me an address and I will send you a check. there is a very small chance I can make this as I think my wife is planning on being in Pontotoc this same weekend. I will double check, but will send the sponsorship anyway. I still think the best custom stamped disc is last year's Fling with the King.

We hope to space-out the tee-cards so that every group will have no players on the fairways behind or infront of them.
Maybe the play will go faster than 4 hours.

Grayson is also working on an extra curricular contest/event that all players will enjoy!...

With all the Elvis events/music/rides/contests happening, it will be a great one!

Is hole 20 and 21 going to be in the long positions?

I saw where 29's basket is going to be moved to, there will be several discs thrown in that water haha. It looked about 30' from the water.

20 will be moved to long for the 2nd round. 21's long sleeve is no more so it'll stay in short.

Yes, risk and reward will come into play for hole 29. 28 & 29's baskets should be moved to their tournament positions this weekend!

Does that mean pro will have a chance @ $30 and an age restricted disc??

Fling for the Distance King:
The PRO's (no-matter what age) will only compete for the $30 cash.
[ This might seem harsh, but most pro's (at any age) will out-throw an average person (at any age) all the time. ]
Now don't get me wrong, I will make an adjustment to the Older Pro's if I have to.
I will make sure it's a fair competition for the PRO's (at all ages).
NOTE:
Rollers count.

Ummmm ok....who's to say a 17year old such as trey daniels(just a example)should go up against a 9yr old(morgan tackett or eli harris) should throw against each other? Just a glitch ya may wanna tweek.

I think the distance competition is gonna be AWESOME!! I've been throwing good and far lately so I'm hoping I have a shot at it.

But I do think there are some glitches that need to be worked on, like what Robby said. Or if a 25 year old Advanced player goes up against 18 year old Ams that havnt played very much, they will not even want to compete.

Is there a charge for the distance competition or is it a free contest?
