Purchased 5 cases of water to help with keeping our fellow golfers hydrated.
This matches the 5 cases Kernan has already donated, hoping it will break
down to 2 bottles of H2O per golfer. Drink lotso water tonight folks.

Fortunately it didn't rain from about 2 PM until dark today.

I flagged all the Pro tees with orange flags, even the ones where the pro & regular tee are the same. So all you Intermediate, Advanced and Master Ams look for the orange flags on the second round. Steve Timm was kind enough to make the scorecards for you, and they have all the distances. Note that the holes with only one distance on the scorecard are the holes where the pro and regular tee are the same.

Also, since it may rain and get sloppy tomorrow, players may tee from inside the orange flags instead of the regular tee markers. This gives better footing in case of rain.

Best of luck everyone, it's gonna be fun!

Kernan,

Wife and I are in Vegas and we're ahead (for now anyway).

Can't make it over to this one so I sent you a present. Check your PayPal. Use it anyway you want, TD's discretion.

From Lafayette with love.

Sorry, but I am not feeling the rain thing, I am picking up an entirely different vibe

Dex predicts cloudy a little cooler temps, maybe a couple of sprinkles, just throw your disc and all will be fine

Don you dug D-E-E-P to find that album

My wife gave me an album to CD machine a couple of years ago SWEET

"Champions"

Determination. Perseverance. Heart. Will. Drive.

It took all of that and more for the champions of today's tournament to win, in every division.

As the tournament director it was a thrill to see all the division champions battle it out through adverse conditions, leaving it all out there on the course, letting nothing get in the way of victory.

I'm spent myself. Exhausted. Numb. Sleepy. So so sleepy, but smiling the smile of someone who just experienced something intensely invigorating. But enough about me and the Mrs. ! Ha!

I'll have to double-check a few scores before I can post them all, I'm certain folks will understand that after that rainy delayed finish that everything didn't get quite wrapped up.

However I can say there were 8 teams that earned the name of "Champions" today. And here they are:

Novice---Jeff Melson and Mike Vitale shot 5-under from the regular tees the first round and followed up with a 6-under 57 from the same tees in round two for a three-stroke victory.

Mixed Doubles---Nolan Greenwood blasted out of the past with his dear wife Erin Greenwood to claim the plaques with 8-under and 3-under rounds from the regular tees.

Advanced Masters---Keith Bodin and Pat Fisher held off two other bagger teams on the way to a two-stroke victory.

Advanced---Derek Drew and Ryan Hinton lit it up with a blistering 14-under from the regular tees and then another double-digit 10 down from the pro tees.

Intermediate Am---In the tournament's largest field by far, NO Teamers Nate Batts and Frank Ben capitalized on the best shot format with an 11-under round from the shorter tees and hung on with a 2-over from the pro tees to capture the title. I've never seen such focus from these guys before, it was fun to watch the look in their eyes that said they weren't going to be denied today. That kind of determination is what makes tournaments seem extraordinarily special.

Grandmasters---Rick Wallen and Jet Towns pulled off a stunning upset with an 8-under from the shorter tees followed up with a 4-under from the pro tees.

Masters---Former 3-time Open Champion Shane Seal teamed up with new partner Kevin Weiss en route to a 5-stroke victory.

Open---From what I heard, two teams came to the 42nd and last hole all tied up. Only one drive was good enough for the birdie though and that was delivered by Logan Weiss who had teamed up with now 4-time New Orleans Doubles Open Champion John Fowler.

I want to thank everyone who helped out today, there are just way too many people to thank, but it was gratifying to witness such an eclectic ensemble of characters deliver one heck of a frisbee-throwing experience. See y'all in the morning!

Had a blast Mike.Thank you for ur gracious hospitality and big easy flava championship tourney.Andrew and I left everything we had on the course, but in the end could'nt close the gap on the eventual champs in advanced division. We were all square with Ryan and Derek when the rain delay hit and after returning to play were'nt able to keep pace.In the advanced division yesterday there was some @#$%& good golf played,I enjoyed every minute of it.

Results are on the site, any changes or corrections let me know by pm or email at johnk@sndg.org.

Also there was a mixed doubles division however there is no code for mixed doubles. The players in that division similar to past doubles events each received 2 points in the division they normally compete in (if I couldn't find their name in past seasons I gave them points in am men and am women). It seems to be a division that is catching on so hopefully we can get a distinct division identifier for that one soon.

I would think that since there is no Mixed Doubles division at the SNDCs that points shouldn't be awarded and fees , like Novice, should not be collected.
