I would like to thank American Electrical Contractors, Inc. for their $100 sponsorship. AEC is one of the big time contractors in Memphis and do everything from industrial complexes, airports and data centers. MegaWatt UPS systems are second nature to them. They are on the FedEx preferred contractor list if that tells you anything. I have worked with AEC for almost 25 years on projects large and small and never experienced the first problem.

Great News: Big Doug Milligan will be bringing his cooker to the tournament and will be doing hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, etc. for lunch Saturday. If there is enough interest he will stay over for lunch Sunday. It will be around $5.50 a plate. Doug has done a great job at the Memphis Roc Run over the last few years.

The am players package will also include a Discraft supercolor mini. I have in hand or firm commitments for $750 in sponsorship money. Anyone else what to add some cash to the pro payout?

Several folks have asked me about where to stay at the park. In my opinon the best deal is the RV campsites in the back. You get a concrete pad to park on, electricity, water, picnic table, camp fire spot and proximity to the bathhouse for $18/night. You can put a maximum of two tents on one of these sites. With two people per tent that is $3 a night or $6 a person for the weekend. At the end of September the weather ought to be right. Quiet hours begin at 10:00 p.m. I have no doubt that this will be strictly enforced.

My favorite area is the road with campsites 21 thru 32. Any of these sites will be fine. In fact all of the campsites in the back are good but those around the perimeter get the bulk of the traffic. We are just over a month away so if you intend to use the RV sites you ought to go ahead an make your reservations 662-252-4231.

Once again the forum only posted part of my message. Gephart is one of the largest electrical contractors in northern Mississippi. I have worked with them on a number of large projects and their work is sceond to none. They do most of the casino work in the Tunica area.

I would like to thank my dentist, Dr. Mark E. Wiygul, DDS (901-683-7771) for his contribution of $100. I started going to his father, Dr. James L. Wiygul, while in high school and now his son Mark keeps me from being down in the mouth. Nothing speaks as eloquently as success. I will be 60 on my next birthday and I still have all my teeth. I attribute this to the excellent dental care that Dr. James and now Dr. Mark have provided me for over 4 decades.

I would like to thank Askew Nixon Ferguson Architects for their sponsorship of $100. ANF Architects is one of the largest and most prestigious design firms in Memphis. Their projects include most of the FedEx Superhub, the Brooks Museum of Art addition, the SWTCC Library, Sam's Town Casino & Gambling Hall, the Alex Haley Museum, the Engineering, Business and Science Buildings at CBU, St. George's School and the renovation of the Overton Park Shell. I began working for ANF Architects in 1989 until we spun off my company, CM Plus, Inc. as a sister corporation in '96.

I would like to thank Sams Town Hotel and Gambling Hall for their $100 sponsorship. Located in north Tunica County Sams Town has 850 rooms, swimming pool, exercise room, sauna, Jacuzzi, slots, table games and the only live Keno game in town. Their Great Buffet has been voted the best and the honor is well deserved. Sams Town has also given me a certificate for two nights stay in their hotel and dinner for two at their Great Buffet. This $150 value will be awarded to the Pro Open winner and non-transferrable.

I would like to thank the Board of Officers and Directors of the Memphis Disc Golf Club for their $100 sponsorship. I had the privilege of being president of this association for 3 years: a very rich and rewarding experience. I have met some of my best friends through association with this sport. Disc golf is one of those things where you can get more out of it than you put in; but if you contribute nothing you get nothing. I encourage everyone to step up and become active in your local club, maintain your courses, help with tournaments, aspire to become a TD or maybe an SNDG Director. You will advance the sport and yourself in the process.

Great News: Kevin Land has volunteered to run the Safari 6 Skins event. Landman has been the mastermind of the Memphis Roc Runs.

Nuff said.

Is the safari 6 going to be a random draw safari like last year?
Re: Wall Doxey Rumble in the Jungle - Sept. 24th & 25th
August 29, 2011 11:57AM
No, it will be the 6 lowest scores in any pro division: Open, Master, Grand Master or Pro Women. It is a fairly short course so I would not be surprised to see someone other than the Open division in the skins. I will say this: if something wierd happens like a 5 way tie for the 6th place I may have the contestants draw cards to determine the player in order to get the skins finished within a reasonable time frame.

Have any idea how much per hole or is it depending on how much money you raise?

I have set the skins at $25 a hole or $150. I think I am going to leave it at that and put the rest of the sponsorship money toward the Pro divisions payout.

I would like to thank the Bank of Holly Springs for their $250 sponsorship. The Bank of Holly Springs is where southern hospitality is blended with today's technology to provide a superior banking experience. They are the oldest bank in the State of Mississippi serving the area for over 142 years.

When I contacted the bank president he did not know me from Adam. But as we talked and I explained that the theme of this tournament is to honor Lyle Richardson for his 25 years of service he said: Put me down for 250. Such is the measure of respect and appreciation Lyle enjoys within the community.

I would like to thank Chad Stewart Associates, Inc. of Millington Tennessee for their sponsorship of $100. CSA is a small engineering firm with hands on innovative approach to structural challenges. They have three dimensional graphic capabilities that allow other design disciplines to visualize the skeleton of a building and avoid conflicts with mechanical, electrical and plumbing components.

I met Chad a few years ago while figuring out how to stabilize a sinking condominium. We have since collaborated on several projects the most recent of which he used structural foam as a substitute for traditional steel framing to support an elevated concrete slab. This solution saved the Owner a significant amount of money in materials, fabrication and installation time.

Travis,

Lyle lives in Louisiana but he said that he would be in Wall Doxey for the players meeting. The local newspaper said that they would be there as well.

That's a fine looking disc, Gary. Great work Byron.

Sounds like a lot of cash in this one. Only 38 players in the Spring, but SIX grandmasters! My kind of event. Might have to take a serious look at this one.

Gary, will the bunkhouses be open?

Russ,

The bunkhouses will be open if, and only if, there are a minimum of seven people who want to stay there. It would be really helpful if some players would indicate on this thread if they plan to stay in the bunkhouses. Seven commitments would assure availability for everyone. It would be helpful if someone, anyone, would pre-register. It would be nice if I had a clue who was planning to attend. I have over a grand in sponsorship money folks. Are there some pros out there besides Travis that want a chunk of that?

I got the tournament discs in and they look every bit as good as the artwork.

The bunkhouses will be available. If the number of people wanting to use the bunkhouses does not meet the minimum threshold I will make up the shortfall out of sponsorship money.
