I just lost my Star Wedge at Latimer Lakes on Sunday. I drive with it. I also use the XD as a mid distance driver.I like it because it's straight. I have a dx XD, but it's really flippy now. After 3 weeks of playing, I still hit the trees a bit ha.

I use a XD some as a woods disc and a utility disc. A classic Roc is similar in profile but is more stable and keeps its stability longer.

FWIW I have read that a Champion XD flies entirely different from a DX one so dont expect the same flight.

I have a Classic Roc that I just started throwing that I am starting to really enjoy.

Ricco, I never even thought to look that up... Thank you.

If you use a Star Wedge to drive with I would suggest you check out some other discs that might match your arm and snap speed, a Cobra, an Eclipse, an Element, a Stratus, and a good first driver is a Leopard. A DX Teebird is good for newbie arms, esp. if its beaten in some.

Oh no, ha. I usually drive long distance with a Star Teebird. Anything less than 300 I use my Classic or DX Roc, Star Wedge or DX XD All dependent on the path I am taking. I want to try moving up to a faster speed driver (Orc, Archon, or Wraith) but I don't seem to throw them as well as the Teebird.

170 classic roc(DX) in white or yellow should be the ticket!
Make sure it is as flat as possible.

I don't know what weigh my Classic is, but my other Rocs are at 179 and 180.

170ish makes it easier to control for long approaches. Hyzer, anhyzer...it holds the line VERY well at that weight. The max weight classics are for long shots into head wind...not as workable IMO. I have had 4 dx classic rocs(2 in the bag) and 1 CFR classic roc. The white and yellow break in to be nice and sticky for the chains. Try to stay away from the orange and blue...as they are stiffer and break in much differently.

I have a White DX a Glow a Blue Classic and a Teal DX. All at 179 and 180.

If you are looking for an XD replacement..get a white(or yellow) classic..around 170 grams. It s not a long distance disc..under 300 ft. I use it for putting in strong wind, and approaches with a low ceiling(under 300 ft). XD's are classic rocs without a bead.

Trust me..it is $$$

These are too heavy for touch approaches.

I could be wrong but these weights sound like they are Rocs, but not Classic Rocs. Difference is Classic Rocs have a smaller diameter meaning a lighter max weight allowed. Usually Classic Rocs top out around 175 while a Rancho or San Marino, or Ontario Roc will top out around 180.

I checked and my Classic is 170. Definitely a little smaller and has a beaded ridge.

Disc Golf Values has some candy fundraiser Classic Rocs in Star and Champion. A little pricey but not too bad for a disc that will fly the same way a long long time. I love XD but they change so fast if they hit much. Plus I have found that they can turn quickly if snapped hard but at the same time if you throw it lazily it will fall off pretty hard. Been playing 3 years and XD was one of the first three discs I bought. Still got it, and it is so beat in I can extreme hyzer flip it to a quick turnover. It is my trick shot disc in tight woods.

I still have my first one. I'm hoping it will end up having the same effect as a Star Wedge.

Keep that classic roc...it will be your favorite disc before you know it.
I have one that is beat in perfectly (yellow) if you want it.
