I am interested as well. We tried this a few years ago and it fizzled out for some reason, had a website and all.
No reason it can't get started again with the right leadership.

Theres not much of a message to forward....i think it got deleted anyway. I agree joey, we have too many GREAT unknown courses im Mississippi not to try to get them in the spotlight.

So the topic kinda died down for a second but Jamie and I have still been talking. I think Jackson is going to step up and take the MS State championship for 2013 if no ones has stepped up already. I wanna kick off the MS Tour with the groundhog grappler at the Rez at the beginning of the year. Thinking just taking some $ out of the entry fees to put towards the MS State championship. Maybe some of the other MS events can step up and do the same thing. Let me know what you think.

It would be unlikely that my area would be able to host anything before next year MS State, but If I am able to host something I will pull some money to the Championship.
Re: Mississippi Disc Golf Association

Well i am for sure ready to do this. Mississippi has a ton of great course and we all draw numbers to our events. Just pick one event in your city that you can pull some money from and help make the MS State Championship the tournament it should be.

Active Clubs in Mississippi:
1) Jackson Union of Disc Golf Enthusiasts (Judges)
2) Tupelo Disc Golf Association (TDGA)
3) Hattiesburg Disc Golf Association (HDGA)
4) Columbus Disc Golf Association
5) DeSoto County Disc Golf
6) Gautier Disc Golf Club
Active Members in Mississippi
1) Lloyd Wilkins, Jackson, MS, Lloydw86@gmail.com
2) Robbie Harris ,Tupelo, MS
3) Wade Bouchard, Hattiesburg, MS
4) Jamie Massingale , Hattiesburg, MS
5) Chip Strain, Columbus, MS
6) Clayton Nash , Columbus, MS
7) Dustin Morris,
8) Shane Hughes , Gautier, MS
9) Steven Soloman , Southaven, MS
10) Dale McVeay, Hattiesburg, MS
11) Zach Hudson ,
12) Joey Ingle, Tupelo, MS, MS PDGA Rep
13) Eric Day

The name of this organization could be the Mississippi Disc Golf Association (MSDGA) or (MDGA)
The MSDGA missions include the following:
Promote Disc Golf throughout Mississippi
Encourage players of all skill levels to get involved
Promote organized Disc Golf events
Hold an annual MS State Championship

So the part of the goal here is not only to promote Mississippi disc golf, but to help beef up the MS State Championship. The idea of a MS Tour was thrown around were participating clubs pick a tournament during the season they would like to designate as part of the tour, fees would be collect off said event and put towards the MS State Championship. Fees could just be $3 a head to make it an even $5 (SN $2 + MSDGA $3). As with the SN championships, we could dictate that the hosting club could only make XXX amount profit on the championship, since fees collected are getting pumped into the event. We could purchase bag tags as well. 100 tags go for $3.40 apiece. So $340 split between 6 clubs is $57 per club to order tags. Tags could be sold for $10. Extra funds for sales of tags could be put towards the Championship. Each tournament that is designated part of the MS Tour could be considered an Bag Tag Challenge Event, with the championship being a final Bag Tag Challenge for the Year. A rolling Ace Pot could be started for Bag Tag Holders and that pot could move from event to event and end up at the Championships. I for one am ready to take this idea to the next level. I will volunteer to run the 2013 MS State Championship in Jackson, MS. I will start off and designate one of our first events of the calendar year as part of the MS tour. We could get bag tags going before then. Who ready to make this happen???

It looks really good on a white disc....I got a couple of them around the house. I will talk with other members of tdga about picking one of our events next year to be a Miss. States qualifier/series event. I don't see a problem with that happening.
