I personally liked the way it looked before you painted it, but it still looks great!

Did you use a router to make that detail piece on the corners?

Actually I have a C&C machine at work so I worked out all the measurements and payed the guy that uses it lunch and he did it for me. I agree it looked better unstained but it was my first project and therefor a learning experience. I'm gonna add lighting later including a black light to make all my glow discs POP! I mainly went ahead and put forth the time and effort cause I've come to realize I'm a collector of discs... I can't be one of these people that go through plastic like crazy. I will gladly retire a disc when it's time and give it a nice spot on my shelf. I will also punish a disc when it's not acting right, give it a little time on the shelf of solitude until its ready to do what it's spose to do LOL.

It is strong enough to hold bowling balls... and I do appreciate your encouraging words Dillon. Maybe next time you could tell me how short I am.

You have any retired CE plastic you want to sell? Ignore Dillion!

Tough crowd in here.

Sorry none of my plastic is for sale. Maybe once I fill the whole shelf up....and I actually don't have any "retired" CE plastic. That eagle is never thrown and the Valc goes into my bag when I get to long technical courses.

How about putting down some demensions, such as the space between dowels and such. Just in case someone else wants to build one of these having some measurements from a prior build could save them a few steps.

Thanks

Are you referring to the topic title(in which I was being funny) or something else? Please enlighten me because I am always looking for self improvement.

That thing looks awesome! In both black & the wood grain!

About how much did it cost you to make? # of hours?

Roughly $250 in materials and extra labor(c&c machine). 1 sheet of 3/4 cabinet grade plywood and 1 sheet of 1/2 higher cabinet grade plywood. And all together roughly 20 hours in my labor including design. Most of my time was taken up sanding the oak dowels and I still don't think I did enough.

The C&C machine must have cost you a good bit. You should be able to get all those materials under $100

The wood alone almost cost 100 bucks(3/4 cabinet grade 36$, 1/2 higher cabinet grade 44$)
Then the oak wood dowels were 3 or 4 a piece(14 total)
Sand paper, pre stain, stain, polyurethane, two end pieces, trim, and hardware definitely added up to more than a 100$
C&C machine cost me 1 lunch and 20$

Prolly would be fine to do it with a lower grade plywood since you're staining it anyways
