We should release this TD Bible for player consumption -they might learn a few things.....

Dex makes good points, as do several others - I personally like Gary's "flight the Ams" idea....

I do not agree that Ams should be paid out less - the lower finishers are the ones that actually NEED the discs - discs to try out that they might not have gotten themselves - good for disc sales overall and good for our series in keeping them coming back....

I'm not entirely convinced we should try "to fix" anything - but I do agree that a SNAC winner in a lower division should be required to move up - even if they had a "tourney of a lifetime" in order to win.......

I am learning a lot from this discussion. Thanks again to Keith for starting it. I am curious what players and TDs would think about making entry fees the same for all Amateur players. Advanced, Women, Masters, Grand Masters, Intermediate, and Novice all pay the same amount for entry fee.

I know a $5-$10 difference in entry fee doesn't mean much to some players, but I have listened to friends make a decision on the division they will play based on entry fee. Do you think as a player or TD that it would help or hurt to simplify things and have one price across the board for the entry of a tourney for all amateurs?

I am one BOD nominee that will be at the SNAC this weekend. I will be playing for the last time as an Intermediate. I just turned 40, so I will be playing with the Masters this season. I will introduce myself at Saturday morning's player's meeting. I would love to hear your questions, concerns, and suggestions.

the only way I would say novice pay the same as the rest is if it was actually considered a legitimate division. Since it's not, then I do not think they, nor Juniors should pay the same as intermediate and above.

On the question "making entry fees the same for all Amateur players", I'm hoping the reason for that is to flight them at some event. I'm hoping just because I think it would be interesting to see this happen, not because I am convinced it is necessary. I agree on the Rec/Novice exclusion point but not clear on why the Juniors should be excluded from flighting. Junior is a legitimate division under 2.1.4. They receive points and their division is offered (and currently occupied) at the SNAC. They do not pay SN Fees, but I'm not clear on why that should exclude them from the flighting.

It just seems a bit high to have Jrs. paying the same as other divisions, as we know the parents are the ones paying.

Having a couple of Jrs.in tow could get expensive, I am all in favor of flighting them. So with that I guess the entry would have to be the same

I'd like to see it done with or without the Juniors. I don't think Juniors are needed to find out if flighting is a good idea but just curious as to why they should be excluded. The cost is an argument that could apply to everyone but the kids-in-tow point is a good one (I've been there). There is something to letting the kids play together but you could say the same for other age and gender groups and some of these Juniors do have game comparable to those groups. There is no point in including those with radically less skill. I think including only the Adv, A40 and Int would be a good test for flighting.

The more expensive it is the less younger players you will have. It's that simple. I personally hate spending 30 but that's my max and I'm in college. I won't pay anymore than that. I know as a younger play 30 would be too expensive for me

Second thought, leave the A40's out too so when you're done everybody flighted falls into an existing SN division with the points, fees, SNC qualification and reclassification rules in place.

Thanks Dex - I think we should use that listing every time someone complains about a TD/event.....

I think the list could also be used constructively by existing TDs to see how they "measure up".....

I can see several entries that would've relieved stress and headaches on tourney day over the 7 years i ran events......Good Stuff!! Griff

New Orleans has been using the same entry fee for all am divisions for nearly two years now and we are drawing big fields at every event. You should get out of the house more often. I would rather vote for people who actually attend SN events!

I'm voting multiple times though Tommy so I will put you on at least a couple of ballots.

Thanks Bluff. I came to SNAC in New Orleans last year. It was top-notch. I teach, so my weekends are rarely an option to travel out of town. I would love to support New Orleans, and other SN cities, more.

I wish more of the people who play tons of SN tournaments would volunteer their time, energy, and experience for BOD as well. You made a very good point. It is certainly an important commitment. To be quite honest, that is one thing that I am considering in my vote. I want people who travel SN land to be in the BOD. These are the folks who will get the most input from the players; not just from this forum.

I have not voted yet, because I am waiting to vote at the SNPs in Mobile. I'm hoping to learn more about each candidate.

What I do have to offer is an open mind for new ideas and an open ear to the players and TDs. I have ideas, but I am here to represent the wishes of the players as a board member.

Tommy, that's not an insult at all...a couple of elections back phone-in votes were allowed at the last minute from a frat house keg party in Memphis.

LoL Tommy if you only knew. Word on the street is that some people are being told the number of votes collected so far in this election. I mean why not keep having elections that are compromised? It's an SN tradition. Why would anyone expect the SN to improve if the vote counters can't be trusted?

It is fun seeing how many times I can vote at least. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

And yes in the spirit of prior SN elections, I will accept cash for each vote I make for a particular candidate.

Honestly, are there going to be "hanging chads" in this election?

Another reason for memberships. Everyone has a specific email registered with the association and can only vote thru that. Keeps ppl from mass voting.
