I will be coming to town for Christmas and hope to sneak away for some golf. What would be the best course to hit if I only had time for one round?

Massive J's Hattiesburg DG course rankings

1. Ashe Lake (Brooklyn) - fun with long holes, beware of treacherous rough. $5 per car, federal park, no alcohol.

2. Paul B. Johnson - 27 holes, I think the lake is down right now. Classic

3.(tie) Duncan Lake - Ghetto fabulous sand pit with or without the funk smell of Hattiesburg. Birdie fest possible. Bad day possible.

3.(tie) Tatum Park - Fun short mix of woods and open. Technical

Sweet thanks! I've played Ashe Lake, Paul B (not when the water is down), and Tatum (the old 9 hole only). I was wondering about Duncan.

Duncan is different. Has a unique feel, and as Massive mentioned, you never can guarantee what you will shoot since it will be different every round. Navigation can be a bit confusing without a guide.

We ran out there for a quick round because it is close to the inlaws. Was a little confusing at times but we managed. Didn't shoot great playing it blind. Almost hit a person's car. She was nice when I apologized. I don't think she noticed as she looked like she was busy with a "customer".
