Don't flatter yourself. I have not played much because of a major injury. Who cares how many tournaments you guys have played, you want a cookie or something?

I am not against ratings, I am against paying EXTRA for them.
Re: Divisions, Baggers, Championships, & more

Of course, no one wants to pay extra. But if someone could make the memberships/ratings worth getting to help players, it would be worth it. Kinda like the pdga has discounts at hotels, their store, free magazine every 3 months, better website, etc.

Zinger, you said the SN spans across 8+ states, the only thing the SN spans 8+ across is counties in Mississippi.

Seriously, the SN is in 3 cities (LR, Jacksonville, Jonesobor) in Arkansas, 3 cities in Tennessee (Memphis, Pickwick, Jackson) , 2 cities in FL, Pensacola & Ft. Walton. The only states the SN flourishes in is MS, AL (half the state) and LA.

and it's getting smaller, not growing.

HAHA ... no flattery. I know where I stand.

You've been playing advanced masters longer than I've even known about the sport of Disc Golf. I guess your 5 season, 22 tournament SN history gives you the comfort to be able to debunk and be dismissive to anyone that thinks differently than you. If I averaged 4.4 tournaments a year I wouldn't want to pay the "crazy" PDGA fees either ... and dern sure would argue anyone that wanted to change the fact that I could comfortably bagg in a division for, well, as long as I wanted. Now I'm not saying my ~8.6 tournaments a year since the 10-11 season makes me a expert by any stretch but I digress...

ANYWAY, for the rest of the folks, change is not always bad. SN is pretty much the only game in town for most of us from LA through south Alabama until you get to Tally or far eastern/south FL. That being said a few ... minor ... changes would be welcomed by quite a few folks that I've talked to in my relatively short time playing disc golf and enjoying the disc golf scene. The single biggest complaint I get, especially from the newer folks trying to move out of the novice or INT/am divisions is the stagnation that happens because of the top 20 or so that are in the top of their division, the same division year after year after year.

2011-2012 season...123 events...11 states.. average attendance 75.21 players

2012-2013 season ...123 events ( counting the ones remaining on schedule) 12 states... average attendance 73.81 players

Mississippi...45 events
Alabama.....28 events
Louisiana....21 events
Florida........10 events
Tennessee...8 events
Arkansas......5 events
Georgia........2 events
Missouri.......1 event
Texas...........1 event
N. Carolina...1 event
S. Carolina...1 event.

I don't see the downward spiral that you guys are talking about other than the fact that attendance is down by 1.4 players per event. With inflation and gas prices, I think the decrease in attendance is pretty good.
looking back over the past 5 seasons, I say we are pretty steady
2010-2011...125 events....68.33 per event
2009-2010...112 events....72.83 per event
2008-2009....119 events....73.33 per event
2007-2008....113 events...68.22 per event

The decrease isn't in attendance. Most people will play in the tournaments regardless of sanctioning because thats what they have to play in their area. I just wish people would ask what the players want instead of making accusations. Have a poll at the Championships and see. I am sure that would open eyes up to everyone.

Well Mr. "I think I am cool"....When you grow up and get a serious life changing injury, get back to me...other than that you are nothing short of a childish wise @#$%&.
THAT is the only reason that I don't play more than I do. I have had to finish tournaments LEFT handed to keep from getting a DNF. Get your facts straight before you open your mouth. Screw off.

One more thing, since you are a know it all....I started playing disc golf in Colorado.

I refuse to play in any local PDGA tournaments....regardless of how close they are to me. Maybe one day, but I doubt it.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me what is broke about the SN series....what you want from the series? 120 events a year with an average attendance of 70 plus... all of us can't be wrong. if you could poll every single player that has played an event this season...(not just the 50-100 people that post here) and asked the question would you rather pay a $50 membership each year or $2 every time you played an event... I bet you 70% would take the $2 per event. And that is exactly the reason why this series was formed. In stead of continually pushing this negative propaganda about the SN, try to help fix some of the problems.

If nothing was broke about the series, you wouldn't have mentioned your last sentence. I am talking about the players in SN that wish they had a rating, wish their was a better site, wish that SN offered more to the players, etc. SN is the same as it was when i started golfing 5-6 years ago. Why can't we try new stuff? See what people like? This is a players series but the players don''t have a say so in anything. You want to take this series back to the foundation it was created on? Ask the players what they want. The tournament directors and the BOD shouldn't have the only say so in this series.
Re: Divisions, Baggers, Championships, & more

75% of the tournamnents in 3 states. SN needs to do something about establishing a ratings system. I cashed like 5th in one day tournament with very few pro's and now I'm locked into Open for 4 tournamnets? So it's ok for people to stay in the division they dominate for years with win after win, but move up and try to see what it's like, finish 5th, and take some money to recoup your entry fees, and now I'm a pro. WTF?

Well hello Mr. Pleasant to talk to ... Saying you've played LONGER isn't helping your case.

I'm sorry you were hurt and if that limits your DG abilities then ratings won't be an issue for you. 6 in this years PoG and 4th last year, you're holding your own in the division that's for sure.

ThomasD that's all that's being discussed here. Improvements to the SN webpage, getting it wholly owned by SN, a few other bells and whistles to make it easier for TD's to track players and the statisticians to do the magic to make the ratings in the first place.

BMB ... here's my stats if you're interested: Joe's tourny shack :) SmackdownIX 8th place finish in Adv Masters is missing from that list for now.

Real classy.
I will call anyone a jack donkey every single time that I am disrespected. Joe Kool doesn't know me from Adam, but to say that I don't have a say because I haven't played enough....is a little much.

PLEASE re-read my post(s) my friend ... if you find anywhere in there where I said YOU don't have a say I did some serious mis-typing. What I did say was that I've played in quite a few tournaments and listened to quite a few people. AND that you had played in 2 tournaments this year ... 22 tournaments over the last 5 EVEN said in SN ... which and I quote "gives you the comfort to be able to debunk and be dismissive to anyone that thinks differently than you." I guess.

Never did I say you only played X # of tournaments so your opinion don't matter or you don't have a say. Read the words for what they are and don't try and read into what I'm saying and skew my words around. It is s all up there in black and white so give it a nice slow read

Where do you work Wayne? Everywhere I have worked, if there is a problem, we solve it together. Always starts issues because no one is going to agree. Yes it does start "drama", but what I have learned at work is for issues not to get to me. If someone doesn't like my idea, I don't get mad, I try to prove why my idea is efficient. If I call anyone names, I will end up getting fired eventually. It gets this "drama", you call it, no where.

Wayne, I will say I am sorry if I offended you and I didn't have any plans to offend you but I feel strongly about this series/issue and will back up what I believe in because it is my right. And I will do so without making personal attacks towards you or anyone for that matter.
Re: Divisions, Baggers, Championships, & more

Don't talk about me playing in 2 tournaments this season. My first tournament was LA States 2006, I've played in MANY tournaments over the years. Used to be at least 2/month if not more. The past 4-5 years I haven't been able to play much AT ALL much less tournaments. I worked just about every Sat, now i have a better job and have a chance to play more. But i also get my two kids every other weekend and have a wife and 3 stepkids, this all kinda makes it hard for me to play tournaments like I used to. I would play in BR, the next weekend play in Mobile, then the weekend after go to Memphis. I've played in more SN tournament that you ever had. I remember when there was no SN in BR, so you can't say that's all i've seen.

That's 122 SN tournaments in the last 10 years, because that's all this site has on record.

Don't let a couple of bitter SN BoD quitters' combined ignorance keep you new players from speaking your mind. There is absolutely nothing wrong with expressing that you want the SN to improve.

Fortunately or unfortunately, it's going to take new people on the SN BoD to move the series forward. But it's not easy. Keith & Terry both quit the BoD when they found out work was involved :) , now it's funny to see Keith taking credit for anything.
