2015 SNAC Host: Lafayette, LA
February 11, 2014 08:27PM
At this time, the board would like to begin receiving bids to host the 2015 Southern Nationals Amateur Championships (SNAC).

Preferred Date: May 16-17, 2015

Other Dates Available for Bidding:
May 9-10, 2015 (Mother's Day weekend)
April 11-12, 2015 (If the SNDC is not awarded for this weekend)
March 21-22, 2015, or any weekend before (Various other potential conflicts including lack of daylight)
*Also, if you host a protected event during March, April, or May and wish to replace that event with this event, you may do so.

Minimum Requirements
- (2) 18+ hole courses with the appropriate challenge, maintenance, and infrastructure
- 3 1/2 rounds of competition. A cut may be made after the 3rd round.
- Divisions Offered: Advanced Amateur, Intermediate Amateur, Amateur Women, Amateur Masters, Juniors (under 16), and any other age and/or gender protected division with three or more competitors wishing to participate.
- A payout in each division which equals 125% in fair retail value of the fees received and entry fees received combined. For example, if the fees received for a specific division are $750 and the entry fees received for that division are $250, the total payout for that division must be $1,250 in fair retail value (125% of $1,000)
- The number of spots paid in each division equals 35-50% of the total number of participants in that division
- A player's package equal to $35 in fair retail value for each competitor
- A trophy/plaque for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each division offered
- Two ancillary events such as a driving contest, putting contest, skills competition, mini golf competition, ring of fires, etc.
- A complete accounting of all revenue, expenses, and prizes awarded to be submitted to the board following the tournament

Support Received
- All championship fees collected from amateur divisions in singles tournaments from March 16, 2014, to December 31, 2014

Baskets are given out as prizes at the SNAC. The following is an excerpt from the "Southern National Am Championship Guidelines" thread:

"11. Baskets:
...a. Each division (except Juniors) will have a basket whose quality is equal to the Innova discatcher pro / discraft chainstar for 1st place (about $360 retail).
...b. Each division (except Juniors) will have a basket whose quality is equal to or greater than the Lightning DB5 / Innova Discatcher Sport for 2nd place (about $175 retail).
...c. Exceptions will be made on the quality of the basket based upon the size of the division and the amount of SN fees contributed from that division. First place in those instances will be awarded a basket whose quality is equal to or greater than the Lightning DB5 / Innova Discatcher Sport for 2nd place (about $175 retail).

An example of this is at a future SNAC if there is a fielded Adv Womens division. In 2005 there were $420 in SN fees generated by the am womens division. If the division split into am and adv womens divisions, example 6 am women and 4 adv women the SN fees of $420 would be split per capita with $252 ($42 x 6) going into the am womens payout and $168 ($42 x 4) going into the adv womens payout. Add entry fees to the equation ($45) the SN fees and entry fee from the am womens division would be $522 and $348 in the adv womens division. Mulitiple that times the required 125% minimum payout equals $653 for the am women and $435 in the adv womens divisions. Subtract players package which is considered part of the payout (minimum $35) equals $443 left for payout in the am womens division and $295 left for payout in the adv womens division. Even without figuring in the cost of the trophies which count toward the payout the adv womens division wouldn't justify a $360 basket but it would justify a $175 basket leaving $120 for 2nd place paying out 2 of 4 places.

...d. The SN Board will provide the baskets for the SNAC. The baskets will be provided to the host at cost."

Compensation
- If all requirements set forth are met, the host is allowed to keep a maximum of $500

Please refer to the thread titled "New SN Handbook" on either the "General Discussion" board or "SN Tournament Information" board and the thread titled "Southern National Am Championship Guidelines" on the "SN Board of Directors" board for more specific policies, and/or items not mentioned in this post, regarding the Southern Nationals tournament series and this specific event.

By submitting a bid to host the 2015 Southern Nationals Amateur Championship, you are agreeing to the requirements previously set forth. While minimum requirements are listed, please provide specific details about your plan to host this event including the following: the courses in which you are planning to use (along with any planned upgrades for these courses prior to the tournament or any temporary setups which will be used during the tournament), the exact format which you intend to use for the tournament, your goal for additional fundraising for this event, any events outside of the actual competition which will be made available for competitors, and any other relevant information.

This event will be awarded based on which submission best displays the ambition to provide the highest quality championship possible, which site offers the best collection of courses appropriate for this event, and which location provides the most access for the largest number of Southern Nationals players.

If you would like to submit a bid to host this event, please post it here or send it to a member of the board. My e-mail address is caseydancox@gmail.com

Re: Now Accepting 2015 SNAC Bids!

We have decided to set the deadline for 2015 SNC bids as Sunday, May 11th at 11:59 pm.

If you would like to be considered for multiple SNCs, that is not a problem. We will select the SNPC site 1st, followed by the SNAC, and then the SNDC. If multiple cities submit a bid for the SNPC, for instance, we will communicate with the one(s) not selected to see if they would like to be considered for the other(s) before continuing the selection process.

We ask that each location please consider the possibility of hosting a championship. It is a very good opportunity to showcase your city to a variety of people who might not otherwise get to experience what you get to experience all the time. We do understand that some locations might not have the resources to do so, however. The SNDC might be a good option for a location with less resources or experience in hosting a larger event. As I said, it is definitely something for each community to consider in the coming weeks even if the final decision is to not submit a bid. Do not hesitate to contact a board member with any questions that you may have.

Thank you all very much!

The Acadiana Disc Golf Association in conjunction with The Flight Club Disc Golf League hereby submit our bid to host the 2015 Southern National Amateur Championship in Lafayette, LA on Saturday May 16th and Sunday May 17th, 2015.

I would serve as Tournament Director with ADGA and Flight Club members serving as assistant TDs.

Four rounds of Disc Golf would be played on our four courses (Acadiana Ace Run, Acadiana Duzee, Heymann & Pa Davis) in four pools for a possible maximum attendance of 288 players. Construction and beautification projects will be undertaken to ensure these four courses are in tip-top shape.

Our normal marquis event, the 18th Annual Lafayette Spring Fling, would not be held in favor of hosting this event approximately one month later than our currently reserved date.

If awarded this championship, we will immediately begin a year long fundraising effort to make this a record breaking event in every measurable way. We will begin selling fundraiser discs, we will make our two regularly scheduled tournaments (Late Summer & Mid-Winter) between now and then fundraiser tournaments and of course we will start soliciting private and corporate sponsorships.

We will partner with the same hotel that served as the official tournament host for the recent 2013 SNDC, now operating as the Ramada Lafayette Conference Center. We will utilize their facilities in the same way, serving as both tournament central as well as the site of the player's party and the extra events.

We will feed lunch free of charge both days at tournament central as well as provide food and drink at the player's party Saturday night.

Keith Bodin will organize and run the extra events at the picnic grounds adjacent to the hotel - including the greatest mini golf course ever seen by man and a putting competition on the tennis courts under the lights.

We will work with all forms of local media to make sure this event and the SN series receives television and print coverage.

Disc Golf United will provide online registration and payment services for entry fees. This will be a 100% pre-pay and pre-register tournament.

Valuation will be at cost - we will not make one penny off this tournament.

Anyone who has attended a major Lafayette tournament recently knows that we do not disappoint.

The numbers speak for themselves..

2011 LA States
2012 Spring Fling
2013 SNDC
2014 Spring Fling

We will blow the doors off, put them back on and blow them off again - just because.
