FINALLY. . . server problems solved so I can post the results!
We all had a pretty good time, no ice, snow, or other bad weather, but if we had had some, I don't think it would have damped the spirits of the 57 Disc Golfers who came to beautiful Tishomingo State Park this last weekend.
I have not counted the cans that were brought for the Food Pantry, but I saw some stuff I would have liked to have on my shelf (maybe that is why Robert took them)
We had over thirty dollars donated to the Tishomingo Red Cross, every little bit helps!
As Russ posted, there were some pretty interesting happinings over the weekend, but all in all, almost everyone had a great time, or so I have been told.
We are looking forward to our Spring Tourney coming up the 8th & 9th of March, this is the big one, hoping ot max it out, filed limited to 100 players, so register EARLY. For those of you on my mailing list, you will be recieving the flyers and updates. If you want on the list, send a mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, and I will get you on it. Also, if you have Tournaments or updates you wish me to send the list, send me the info and/or flyers.
Without any further delay. . . and the WINNERS were. . . . .

Kevin, I can't recall where Alex is from, but I think Bill said he's 10! The same age as my son. I ragged by bud from Florence about being tied with him after the first round, but I have to retract that since little Alex beat a lot of the other older players.
I played with the second place Junior, Ethan, my first round, and I have to say he was very quiet and played as well as anyone else, as far as marking lies and taking his time and such. Someone taught him well. I'll have to get my kids back to some of these events, especially Tish and Tupelo.
Alex is a delightful 10 year old from Iuka, Ms. This is his second win in a row in the Jr. division. He has a great little finger pop and a good putt to go along with his knowledge of the game and golf etiquette. We wish him well and sure hope that he pursues disc golf as he grows and matures! Wow, Two over par first round!
As you know, this was a charity event, I never intended for it to be a large payout event. With all the events that are occuring, it can be hard to afford to attend all of them, so this event was held to a universal $15 entry fee, of which the Southern National fees are taken out of, and each divisions plaque has to be paid out each of the divisions money.
The program I use to determine the payout also takes out an additional $1.00 for expenses. Depending on the number of players in any given division, you can multiply by 12 ($15.00 less the SNDG $2.00 and expense $1.00) take out the plaque ($10.00) and that is money to work with in the division.
Pros payout the top 30% and the Ams payout the top 40%, which basically follows the payout tables used by most TD's and the PDGA.
Open 1st - $39
Open 2nd - $23
GrandMaster 1st - $26
Amateur Women 1st - $35
Amateur Women 2nd - $21
Amateur Women 3rd - $17
I just want to say I had a great time, despite the fact that this was my first tournament and that I was rather nervous. Everyone was very kind and I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. I intend on playing in as many tournaments as I can make from now on.
It was nice to have you join us. There were so many new faces this time around. I have no doubt that Disc Golf is on the rise.
One of our main goals is to have fun, and we do, as I believe most of those who attend our events will agree.
I am looking forward to our Spring Tourney, the 5th annual. . . has it REALLY been that long? Where has teh time gone? It seems like only yesterday that I pick up a disc for the first time and made a total fool out of myself ( might have had somthing to do that I was one to begin with????), and I have been hooked ever since.
Disc Golf is a great sport, with great people. . . as Jim says, "nuff said"
Thanks to all who came, and I am looking forward to this weekends Ice Bowl at Wall Doxey State Park, another of the great Mississippi State Park courses.
