5th Annual Tishomingo Results
March 10, 2003 08:48PM
Well, another great event at Tishomingo, we had a lot of fun, could not have had better weather, in short. . I think all had a good time

I would really like to thank some of our sponsors, they are the ones who enabled us to have a 100% PLUS payout to ALL divisions.

Pizza Hut of Iuka was a biggie! Becky gave us coupons for Personal Pan Pizzas for EVERY contestant! She also gave us dinners for four and dinners for two. These went out to EVERYONE who placed in the "money"! Sunday, after the event was over, I went there to eat and found 18 people there complements of Chickasaw Disc GOlf and Pizza Hut. . . chowing down!

Tishomingo Railroad was another good sponsor, along with Piggly Wiggly, Alcorn Eye Center, O.L. McDonald Cattle Farm, all donated cash to the event.

BanCorp South and Subway of Iuka were two more of our local sponsors.

Jim Orum and Skysouth donated a beautiful USDGC "Big Bird" ROC and a sweet CE Aero to the event also. We sold chances on the ROC, gave out two tickets for $1, threw for an ace to win the ROC and drew a ticket for the Aero.

Bill Brekeen and his very able park staff were "right on" as usual, the sausage biscuits in the mornings really hit the spot! I'm not EVEN going to tell you how many hamburgers and hotdogs I ate. . . .I am still full!

I am proud to say that one of the highlights of the event was my ace to win the ROC, also the look on Bryan Griffins face when we drew his ticket for the Aero was great.

The top four Open players, Scott Davis, Wayne "O" Brown, Mike "2NA" Thompson, and David Dunham got to stretch it out a bit for the final 6 Safari. Wayne O made an Awesome 3, throwing from 18 tee box to 9 basket. . . I was all I could do just to walk there.

Most importantly, I would like to thank all those who helped out, working in the background, you don't know how much it means and how much it contributes to a good tournament. And a hats off to the PLAYERS. . . you guys. . and girls, are REALLY what make it all worthwhile.

But most importantly. . . Thanks Jim, without the Southern Nationals we would all be waiting for a PDGA event to come close enough for us to get to it. Keep up the good work Jim. . . I hope you know . . we all Love you!

Our coveted Disc GOlf Road Warrior went to Chuck Burdine this year, he drove all the way form Biloxi, he also got a couple of Dinners for 4 since he stayed at the Victorian Inn. . we wanted to be sure he had plenty to eat while he was here.

In short, I believe that everyone who came had a great time, I know there were a lot of them really liked the vegetable beef stew we brewed up in cabin # 1, it was delish. . .

And the envelope PLEASE. . . . .

FYI, all pro divisions played long tees on #1,8,11,14, and 17 Sat. afternoon and Sun. morning. All advanced players were on the long tees for Sunday only. Hey John K., Jim O. said that he wants to change the tournament date of the Hattiesburg Ice Bowl from Jan. 24 to Jan.31, 2004. If this is correct, Chickasaw Disc Golf wants to post an Ice Bowl for Jan. 24 & 25, 2004. We also want to hold our 6th annual Spring Tourney on March 12 & 13, 2004. If this causes any problems, let me know.

It was every bit worth the drive, and I will do what I can to make sure I don't miss another one. Every person there had a good attitude and treated us great. A special thanks to Bill, Bill, and Mac for making us feel so welcomed.

Chuck,

We are glad you were able to come up, there was no contest for the Disc GOlf Road Warrior plaque this year!

If you like Tish, you may want to come up for the April Fool Fling in Tupelo, another woody course that came reward the good shor. . and punish the bad.

I will be sending out an eamail with flyer attached soon.

Thanks to all the Wall Doxey crew. . . you guys, and gals, are always right in there.

Griff, the trees thank you. . . you only "drove" discs into them. . . always good to see you!

I had a great time, and I am pretty sure everyone else did too, all who attended made it a good time.

I will be in the "condo" at Tombigbee next month. . we have not figured out what will be on our menu yet. . . but it WILL be good.

Hope to see you all there. . .

DG Guy
Mac,

Shouldn't the proposed Spring Dates for Tish. be March 13 & 14? Check your 2004 calendar. I'll allow you one mistake!

Chuck B.,

It was great meeting you and your lovely wife and I hope you can make it up and take the Bear Creek Float Trip this spring. It's always great to see a fellow "Golden Eagle". Take Care!

Of course you are right (this time) on the dates for the 2004 Spring Tourney. I inadvertently told John Kittrell the dates for reserving the cabins. Should be March 13 & 14. My bad. Anybody wanting to reserve a cabin at Tishomingo State Park for the 2004 Ice Bowl can do so now on a first come, first serve basis 662-438-6914. Saturday will be two rounds of singles and Sunday will be sanctioned doubles. You must wait another month before reserving cabins for the Spring Tourney. Sorry, State rules.
