All the new poles are in, 17 of them. That's 7 on the back and 10 on the front. It's insane. The 7 on the back have been in for a couple weeks and we've been playing them with the existing 21 hole course for a 28 hole round. A scramble takes over 3 hours. Now there are 38!! Pack a lunch!
We're gearing up now for Phase 2. With the new hole 1 (Wall Doxey) configuration for both courses, there will be 19 on the front and 19 on the back. Phase 2 will entail moving the existing poles and tee pads and new trails. You remember that on the front, of the 19 holes only 3 are going to be existing holes. They are holes #3, #4, and #6. Along with the 7 new holes added to the back, holes #1 and #13 are going to be new. Pin placement may be changed on a couple other holes but the tees will be the same. So of the 19 holes on the back, 9 will be new. Let's see...where is my calculator...that makes a grand total of 25 new holes at Burns Park. The scope of what we are doing here probably won't sink in until we're done. It's like we can't see the forest because of the trees. We along with everyone else probably won't be able to see it until the Southern National May 17-18.
