Presents:

Texas States Disc Golf Championship
8th Annual
PDGA Super Tour Event
Houston Texas
September 20 - 21, 2003

Saint Arnold Brewing Company is a major sponsor

Tom Bass Complex
3 courses (Wilmont, Powell, Tourney)
TD: Larry Kruse
weblizard@hfds.org

Last year: 1st Place paid out
Open: 1050$
Masters: 700$

In most of its history Texas States has always provided a players package to all
competitors, but the AMS get a "larger" players package. In the past the AM package was (event logos on;) towel, mini, stamped disc "event disc" + a non dx disc, event shirt, and more (coupons, etc)

Pro packages usually have included one disc and a shirt, but it is my understanding these players packages have varied thru the years.

This year looks like a banner year for player packages...

This event also has a history of attracting top pros.

Course location: zoomed in road map of Tom Bass

Also, there is a local effort by Andi (a Pro Woman who has been a golfer for many years) to host female golfers to help lower their traveling expenses as well as other incentives to attract female golfers to the event.

More new to follow.

(ps. the Tx St TD has shown interest in making Tx St a SNQ)

Do you have to be a PDGA member to play? Can you join now and be eligible to play if so? I'm "without pdga knowledge"....

I've got a brother in Houston...this looks like a GREAT excuse for a visit!! Griff

Griff, according to the PDGA web site, TX States will be sanctioned as a B-tier for the Ams. Accordingly, ams would not be required to be PDGA members. For Pros, however, TX States will be an A-Tier and PDGA membership is required to play in a pro division.

It is a good excuse. A couple of great courses and (hopefully) the Dragon Hole.

goby is correct about sanctioning for pros & ams.

i forgot to mention that. thanks goby.

yes the tourney course will be installed and the dragon hole will be set up for that hole is "part" of the tourney course

(goby got a 3 on the dragon-- i saw him :^)

the wilmont and the powell are permanent courses.

they have recently made the powell a few strokes "tougher"
by moving tboxs and a couple of baskets.

the tom bass complex is a blast, imho.

championship calibre course design

Victor - Let me know if they decide to make this a SN tournament and I'll put it on the schedule.
