Good call on the Bodin re-ban. You see how there's less drama when there's no trolling around on here eh?
Shows that the rules implemented are working.
Good job BOD. :)

almost unbelievable....yet another meeting blown on the website crap. Isnt there something a little more important then this dang website for the BOD to handle. Plenty of options have been presented. ie Find a sponsor, Fix the schedule, find another sponsor, find the money, find more sponsors, fix the bagtags, find even more sponsors, get all of Justin's google docs up in one location on the site for all to easily find and find more sponsors. and the list goes on

Jabba,
The website focus (at least from my perspective) is geared towards getting those sponsors. The revamped website will also allow us, personally, to post the documents that have been updated without having to contact Brian and have it done. The website discussion lasted MAYBE 10 minutes, and that's a stretch.
I've asked you this before, but I didn't get a clear response from you. You say, "Fix the schedule." What is it exactly about the schedule that you want fixed? Maybe you did answer me, and I just overlooked it. Sorry if that's the case.
As far as bagtags go, we've discussed incentives for them on several occasions. If you are referring to last year's bagtags, that will probably never be resolved. We have situations where an individual supposedly sent the bagtags back in, but the recipient says that they never received them. In that situation, who is responsible? We don't have proof for either individual.
Most of this meeting was spent discussing the tournament radius rule. We've had several issues lately with that. From what I can tell, there isn't any precedent set by a previous BoD on how that needs to be handled. So, we needed to set the standard for it and put it in writing.

Which IS technically "fixing the schedule" if you ask me.

You say the first tourament to be scheduled will be the sanctioned one...what will you do to protect annual tournaments that always happen the same weekend year after year? A group may not be quick getting their date on the calendar bc they know it's always available. Will there be something implemented to protect your annual tournaments from having someone else move in on the date?
Re: Minutes 4/13/11

This was discussed and will be discussed more I am sure.

Though we do want to see some protection, questions that came up are... what qualifies it to be an "annual event"? Mobz for example had to move their annual event this year. Doesn't seem right to reserve that weekend for them only to move it. No offense to my Mobz brothers, just an example of how it would be hard for many.

My best advice, as of now, is to get the annual events up quickly.

This is one of my main concerns. I feel the long running annual tournaments that always happen the same weekend year after year should be protected.

There's disagreement within the BoD over that schedule concern.

I, personally, feel it would lead to monopolization of the schedule. If you want your tourney on a particular date, set it. Until that date is set, it's fair game in my mind.
I'm afraid that we'll have SO many annual events that it will prevent new TDs and new tournaments from being able to get started. Then, we had the issue brought up of whether or not to protect the "big" tournaments. Personally, I don't want to be the guy to tell somebody that his/her tournament isn't "big" enough to be protected.

Get prepared and post your date as early as you can. Don't leave other TDs guessing on whether or not the date will be available.

If someone actually takes a date of something big and they are in the 150 mile radius then they are pretty foolish. If they decide to run the tournament unsanctioned then that person that is trying to compete would just get CRUSHED and have an extremely poor turnout.

Do I want to see flagship tournaments go unsanctioned because of this kind of petty thing? Absolutely not.
Do I think it will actually happen (more than once)? HIGHLY unlikely.

Nothing is to prevent a club/TD from contacting the "accidental" date's TD and saying "hey, we always throw our tournament on this weekend, would you mind moving your date so we don't end up competing?" If that TD is very smart they will move it. If they want to be a jerk then they won't. But like I said... attendance will show them they made the wrong decision.

It's not an elegant solution but it is what it is and it would be hard to determine which events should be protected.

I formally request the first weekend in June be reserved for our annual Fling with the King Tournament .... from now until Elvis is no longer in the house. It coincides with Tupelo Elvis Festival and won't be changing dates. Tag it and bag it for us please.

Respectively,

In regards to scheduling tournaments I will look at the previous season to see if a longer running event usually has that weekend but hasn't scheduled. There was a new tournament resently scheduled and I asked if the date was firm because another regular sn tournament hadn't made it to the schedule yet....the new tournament td was very accomidating.

I recommend that tournaments to be scheduled look at past seasons results to see what weekends would be better. I think past tournaments should be given some consideration in regards to being able to keep the same weekend if possible.

Let every city label one of their tournaments as their big tournament. They get date for that one tournament and the mileage guideline would be in effect. All other tournaments the mileage guideline won't exist.

With gas so high, and the economy so low, I for one haven't been, nor will I be traveling too much. Work on getting sponsors in order to attract the out of towners.

I wouldn't argue with 1 tourney per city being labelled as "big". If we didn't do that, you know that some cities would have most of the calendar full and reserved.

I think of Memphis....who has 2 big tournaments....Dogwood and Naquin....which would be there one?

I think we need to look at the results from previous years and numbers of years it has been going on....to determine if it is big one that needs to be added. Especially for those cities with multiple big ones....

Dogwood, duh.
Re: Minutes 4/13/11

Or you can label some tourney points as double.....BIGGER events. They would have to hit a certain number from the year before and to be considered, for lack of a better word or term, "A" Tier SN Events. I had an idea like this a few years back but got crucified. Maybe it's time to bring it back.

You have 52 Weeks in a year, Minus the SNDC, SNAC, and the SNPC....Maybe the SN Cup(j/k). So your looking at 49 Weeks. There could conceivably be 49 "A" tier events. Also make it to where one city could only claim 3 A Tier events a year.

A tier system would help the distances between events also. I took this off another disc golf series website:

Scheduling Points events are scheduled on a first come first serve basis, immediately following the Points Finals in October. TDs are encouraged to respect the dates of events that have a long history of being on that day. Single-day Points events on the same day must be at least 100 miles apart (as per Mapquest) unless the TDs agree to share the date. If the TDs do not agree, the tournament date will be awarded to the first TD to mail his/her signed application and check to the Schedule Coordinator. This applies equally to Single Points and Double Points events.

Multiple-day Points events that secure their dates on the schedule first will receive no such exclusivity. The 100-mile distance restriction still applies. TDs running multiple-day Points events may opt to hold the Pro and AM parts of their tournaments on separate days. All other scenarios not addressed in this Charter will be decided by the Points Committee on a case-by-case basis.

Each course may host one Points event per season. A course is defined as a group of 18 or more holes on a specified area of land. Different layouts on the same course do not constitute separate courses. Point events need to be at least two rounds of play.

Double Points Events
Each state can have one Double Points event each year. Each Representative will select his/her state

Memphis could pick either one, would anybody else close to Memphis really have a tournament on same day as a Memphis tournament? I think they are safe from that. I just don't like a tier thing.

not ness. a tier things more than all tourneys are worth one point and the big ones(i.E. Howler, Dogwood, BAP Spring Classic, LA Open, and State Championships) are worth 2 points. It would keep the big tourneys huge and make the other tournaments all equal if you will. Spread the wealth kind of thing.

So when one person cant attend one of the "big ones" now they will be 200 points back instead of just the normal 100??? Figuretively speaking that is, whatever ...that's not spreading any wealth...just rewarding those with deep pockets that can travel to all the "big ones".

I agree with Doug. I don't think it helps our points "issue" one bit but just exacerbates it.

I don't agree with the double points either. By the way, I have been passed by a second Mobagger with 13 events. I will be lucky to get a points disc it appears.

Another interesting fact, 6 of the top 7 in AM points are from Mobile. So you see, anyone who's not from Mobile can't even compete.
