My apologies to the staff of this great tournament. It appears I was misinformed about the history of the howler and have now been educated on its past and that more than one course has been used in the past to accommodate the large numbers that attend this great tournament. I may not play but if I am off I will be there to volunteer to help the TDs in any way they may need.

I have never played the Howler but know Its only at the bogue from hearing others talk about it and say how awesome a tournament it is. It's sad to now know it will be played on more than one course and that will break a great tradition. It is sad to see some traditions end. I thought about playing the Howler this year after hearing all the positives about it but as I am not a fan of Chickasaw I

I find it interesting that this thread has become one of drug use and prayer. Also interesting is that EVERY MAJOR sport in the U.S.A. prays before the game/race/match is played. Now that being said EVERY one of those said sports also have sanctions/punishments for drug use of ANY kind. Look online for the Instep basket. under $100 and it breaks down for transport. I bought one and added an interior set of chains to it since it only comes with the outside chains. Even with the added chains it was under $150 total. # amazon has it for $99.99 and free shipping.

the last two years I played this tournament and each time I was not aware of anything else going on as I was in the tournament and just trying to finish it. This course is BRUTAL with the elevation changes ( some holes you throw and have to walk a the paths because you can't go straight to the basket due to elevation changes) and each time it has been HOT. The TD for this tournament is from Fort Worth, Texas. So it is definitely and out of Towner running this tournament so that may explain a few things Keith.

Yes, an Ace Race is a tournament where you are given two prototype discs and those are the only discs you use. You also will get a small bag ( usually holds about 5 discs ), possibly a mini also. Usually player packs are worth about $50 and entry is usually $25. The course is shortened and the only thing that scores is Metal ( you hit metal ) or Aces. Person with most metal and aces wins the Ace
