It's Been a Rough Week - 3 months ago

I've lost two friends in the last week. As my fellow American Legion brethren were celebrating the life of Wally Parker Saturday night I received a phone call that Howard Young passed away in an Orlando Hospital from Lung Cancer. Please keep the family members of these two men in your thoughts and prayers. This is why I put on the Fling For Life tournament each year in hopes that we can raise

Slow play, unfortunately, is an inherent part of tournament play when the course is flooded with players. It should not be a problem is you are playing in groups of 3 or 4. As a TD I make a point in my player meeting to mention pace of play and to be respectful of all players in your group and the tournament. TDs are not going to turn players away nor shoud they, but when you have 5 and 6

Great turnout considering the weather. 62 players that I want to thank for coming out and supporting in what was a trying day weather wise. Just watched the forecast for the weekend, and it's looking better. Weather guy says rain should move out of area by 1000 in the morning. Might be a little wet during registration, but the rest of the day looks awesome with a high of 75. Prayer is a powerful thing. See you Saturday. Ty

I have been getting some inquiries about whether I'm going to reschedule the tournament due to inclement weather. The answer to that is no! I spoke to the weather guys at WEAR-TV today and they say the rain chance on Saturday is 50/50 and the percentage goes down throughout the day. Based off that and my gut telling me it's going to be ok, the tournament is on as scheduled. Our Relay For Life

A reminder to those wanting to be a sponsor for the tournament. This Thursday is the deadline to sponsor and get on the t-shirt. Good morning. Got confirmation on a sponsorship from ResortQuest late yesterday. They are donating a 2 night stay in a condo at any of their locations from Panama City to Orange Beach. Well I had an interesting end to the year. Had a mild heart attack the Friday before Christmas and got to spend a couple of days in the hospital. Made it home for Christmas and doing great now. Docs and I deciding on what we are going to do, probably a stent. Anyway, also am having surgery on February 5th on left knee again.
