oh, and BTW ... thanks to everyone who let me and my partner kick some serious random draw doubles toss butt last night :-)by chris lasonde - General Discussion
Had a blast last night at the toss. Beautiful weather ... nice to see some new faces and get some hugs from old faces. It was good to meet James (please feel free to contact me if you are need of additional resources or volunteer labor for this project). Have a little feedback on the layout. Just some thoughts ... take 'em or leave 'em. First, I overheard two groups of amateur players on Suby chris lasonde - General Discussion
and if you think that is something (and it is) check out the record:by chris lasonde - General Discussion
nice! just a thought on the second Mobile event ... you might want to consider marketing it as something besides simply the AL USDGC qualifier. That might discourage am divisions from attending. Maybe something as simple as a different name (Dog Days, Doldrums & Discs) and everyone who comes has the option of putting up an extra $5 or $10 to compete for the USDGC slot with the winner gettiby chris lasonde - General Discussion
that is soooooooo hysterical ... where ever do you find all this amazingly interesting stuff? I was sooooooo horny at that point having had absolutely no time all weekend to indulge my normally prolific id ... and with my wife and all my disc golf friends in the audience and in the middle of conducting that boring awards ceremony ... well who can blame me for taking time out to salivate over Cby chris lasonde - General Discussion
did I fail to mention PCSD is sometimes terminal?by chris lasonde - General Discussion
sorry ... the only reason I contributed to this thread was to clarify the existing rules so that TDs and players would have a better understanding going forward. My style has never been about @#$%& blame or pointing fingers but about learning and improving ... I certainly wasn't trying to contribute to any witch hunt. I think any "logo" that shows state outlines risks being out of date almost immediately ... in the case of the above I don't see Kentucky, North Carolina or Massachusetts ... there may be more, but I know those three had SN qualifiers last year.by chris lasonde - General Discussion
BTW taking 7s on a missed hole is only done when holes are missed at the beginning of a round. And to be perfectly accurate, it is not 7s but "par plus four." In other words, for the pro championships in Mobile in September '06, I had the Municipal layout playing higher than par 54. This meant that officially some of the holes were Par 4s or Par 5s. sorry, I assumed that was a given ... If the TD does not suspend play and a player stops the TD can give him two penalty strokes FOR STOPPING PREMATURELY. The player must finish the hole or holes he hasn't played in the correct order starting from wherever he marked his disc when he stopped. But if play was never suspended and some players play on and others don't, the solution is dead simpby chris lasonde - General Discussion
I pretty much agree with everything Jim said (with the exception of taking 7s on the holes ... see Rule 804.04 Part G below). A couple quick points. The TD should always make it a point to include a weather briefing as part of the player's meeting including what the procedure will be if play needs to be stopped, where players should gather if it is stopped and how play is to be resumed. I am a little confused as to why the dog people want that corner of the park. Do they want to work on the flat piece of ground between the tee and where the fairway starts downhill into the woods by the big tree (oak?). If so, there must be a jillion other pieces of flat land that size all over the park. Are they teaching obedience or agility or just canine good citizenship classes or what? question: did all divisions play the same tees, same courses?by chris lasonde - SN Board of Directors
no ... I may wander over there this weekend ... Unfortunately I will be up in Columbus, MS on the 29th, but let me know what remains undone and I will be glad to lend a hand over the July 4th weekend.by chris lasonde - General Discussion
what was the decision?by chris lasonde - General Discussion
I'm sorry, maybe I missed something. Are you saying that if a player shifts to a different tier, the SN Board is going to require him to play up until such time as he may move back down? Better think that one ALL the way through. Sounds like a big 'ol can of worms. Also, will players with ratings below the cutoff be prohibited from playing up? What about divisions like pro women mastersby chris lasonde - General Discussion
if the board is not aware of EVERYTHING you put in your PM to me, they need to know BEFORE this issue is discussed at the next meetingby chris lasonde - General Discussion
Good deal! Can you tell us a little about this system? you say you have "everything ready to go" but also that you "want everyone's input." What kind of input do you want? What database are you using? will this de an active searchable database like the PDGA ratings system? If so, will it be able to plug into this site and have you talked this over with Brian Moon?by chris lasonde - General Discussion
Thanks to all who came out and contributed ideas, brought and lugged baskets, etc. As a side note, many of the people who showed up were excited about laying out the long hole down the water the way it had been played in several previous tournaments (playing east to west and ending at a pin position on the rise immediately adjacent to the dam. just a thought ... we have put nine holes on that piece of land before (and before the sidewalks were permanent. 11 Holes might be a little crowded if you have to play around the history trail and walking sidewalks at the top ... you might consider nine holes (and save two baskets for emergency repair or replacement of stolen or vandalized baskets elsewhere) or even eight holes (bringing Muni's tby chris lasonde - General Discussion
Well, I played out there Sunday and Monday mornings ... had a great time. Don't know what the locals average for speed rounds but I played an -2 round from the orange tees in 26:32 on Sunday withe birdies on 1, 10, 11 and 13 and bogeys on 2 and 4. Bravo Matt and the Emerald Coast Disc Golf Club for the rule concerning "feet on the table" during club sponsored rounds. It is so refreshing to be able to play in events without having to deal with this issue because everyone respects the rule.
