Hey Jimo, I need to speak to you urgently! Call me anytime after the COM or tomorrow, 256-648-1207 or 256-764-4539. Russ Coreyby Russ C - General Discussion
Congratulations and thanks for your service, to both the US and disc golf! rWcby Russ C - General Discussion
That would certainly be a good solution. Include one novice, if possible, on a card with an am (or two) and an advanced player. rWcby Russ C - General Discussion
Actions like this just give our detractors more ammunition. Some people apparently have a warped sense of humor or too much time on their hands. Thanks for the effort Gilligan. rWcby Russ C - General Discussion
Tony, Matt is from north of Nashville, Tenn. A very nice guy with a mean sidearm! Props to Clayton for some great golf when it mattered! Maybe the guys who played with him can add more. FYI, Will and I designed the Final Five skins safari holes. They played for $50 a hole. Todd Alexander won $150 the third hole by carding a four. The hole was from near the long #18 pin to basket #12. The fourby Russ C - General Discussion
Mark, you're certainly NOT the type of golfer I'm talking about. It's good to know so I don't waste time promoting our events to the wrong group of people. I'm glad there are still people like you who play events for the event, not whether it's PDGA or SN. My family goes to the events where we have the best time... Tish, Memphis, Bowling Green, Mobile (when we can) and elsewhere. Andby Russ C - General Discussion
We're very close to our goal of $1,000 in sponsorship for this tournament, so it's safe to say there will be at least $200 added to the pro purse, probably more, some money for safari skins for the top pro players and a free shirt to everyone. The Am players' pack will have a shirt and a custom stamped Discraft CryZtal Z Buzzz, Challenger or SS Avenger and a tournament T-shirt. The first 50 packsby Russ C - General Discussion
"How can they sandbag with the ratings system?" Let's see, right now my PDGA rating is 897, which is Rec level according to the PDGA. If I played Rec, would I be sandbagging? rWc897 oh, You'd have to refer to the "Do We Need Forum Police" thread to see why some folks in our neck of the woods won't play SN events... unless they're co-sanctioned PDGA events. It has NOTby Russ C - General Discussion
No, it didn't. Does it matter? There are many events promoted here that are not SN sanctioned. rWc897by Russ C - General Discussion
I thought this WAS the local board for Mobile and La disc golf? ;) Sorry, I can't help myself. rWc897by Russ C - General Discussion
Very sorry to hear of your loss, Don. Condolences from Russ, Beth, Will & Dylan and all the SFC. rWc897by Russ C - General Discussion
The discs have been ordered! Thanks to all the locals that have stepped up and sponsored our event. add to sponsor list: Chip Gaisser $25 (Bob & Bills Barber Shop) CoreysX4 $25 We still need sponsors folks, help us make this a great event!by Russ C - General Discussion

OK, some sponsorship money is coming in from some LOCAL sponsors. We might reach our goal to be able to provide a tournament T-shirt to ALL players! As far as the custom stamped Discraft CryZtal Z disc for the Ams, some kindhearted person is probably going to have to foot the bill for these. But they will be sweet and most likely available for sale (to benefit the club, of course). rWc897by Russ C - General Discussion
The original post, the one that started all this, had nothing to do with drug and alcohol use. It started out as an inquiry why an event was not PDGA sanctioned. The explanation provided was not good enough and it grew from there. Clubs that do not promote the PDGA are somehow not serving their players. SN players, pros and ams alike, were not as "competitive" as PDGA players. The drugby Russ C - General Discussion
It would certainly make it less expensive for TDs and for those of us who are paying multiple entry fees at tournaments. I'm not sure it would work for all tournaments, but who knows. It could be worked out to where you could give every Am a disc for entering and trophies. Keep up the good work. rWc897by Russ C - General Discussion
Not sure what that means, Brian, but thanks. rWc897by Russ C - General Discussion
Where I live, I not only have to work around the SN schedule (which is not difficult) BUT the PDGA schedule, which is usually not finalized until late in the year. I purposely rescheduled our event to an open weekend, which turned out to be Easter, so I put it back. Our Spring event is traditionally in mid to late March. If anyone wants to go back and track our past dates, go for it. By movby Russ C - General Discussion
yep, we dialed in some nice temps, upper 50s, maybe low 60s! Only about 10 percent chance of rain, party cloudy/sunny. I think winds are only supposed to be 5-10 mph, just enough to make things interesting. We have some customized "Ice Bowl" trophies, official Ice Bowl merch (and some non-ice bowl merch), discs, shirts, hoodies. Certainly there will a CTP for each division (maybe oneby Russ C - General Discussion
We will be there! rWc897 and likely a few more from Florence.by Russ C - General Discussion

Oh yeah, for anyone who will be in town Friday, there's a really great local band, "Lauderdale" (www.myspace.com/lauderdalemusic)playing at The Old Town Tavern in Sheffield. They have food and beer ($1.50 PBRs) The cover is $5 and they will be playing from about 9:30 -2 a.m. Actually, there are three bands. The other two are The Bohannons and Hammertorch from Murfreesboro. I hope to haby Russ C - General Discussion
I have them from all seasons, Bri. I'll check them out and ask will to do the same. Looking forward to it. Thanks, rWc897by Russ C - General Discussion
Bring it on! We love Louisiana golfers! Bring some crawfish or gumbo! Bring Mikey! Honestly, it's been a while since we had anybody from La. so we'd be glad to have you. Also, the weather forecast is looking much better for Saturday. Depending on who you believe (National Weather Service or Weather Channel) it will be partly cloudy/partly sunny with a zero to ten percent chance of rain. This cby Russ C - General Discussion
Likewise, Will and I have loads of pics, some artsy, some not, that we can crop into a "banner" or "header" form and email if that will help. Just let us know! Thanks for all you do Brian. rWc897by Russ C - General Discussion
Steve is correct. I originally moved our event from its traditional date in mid-March to the following week because of this event. I moved it back because of Easter and the fact that we would likely not lose anyone to this event. We certianly would not affect the turnout in New Orleans. After this spring event will will have to look at where we're drawing players from and plan accordingly in theby Russ C - General Discussion
I was hoping you were refering to the temperature! :) rWc897by Russ C - General Discussion
Maybe it's just me, but is there a subliminal message in that statement? ;) rWc897 But you're right.by Russ C - General Discussion
Or you give clubs that agree to help and actually DO help a cut on entry fees. We don't know what the price of gas will be this summer, but $3.50 a gallon is going to keep a lot of people away. If a club were to run an ancillary event, once they agree they should discuss EXACTLY how the host club/TD wants that event runs. Will the club have to provide whatever equipment is necessary or would tby Russ C - General Discussion
