Par For The Course, from Zen Golf by Dr. Joseph Parent
"Par" is an example of an illusory "box" that mid- to high-handicap golfers create for themselves. They would do well to think outside of it.
Less than 1 percent of all golfers have completed a round of golf in par or better. That makes it a rather unrealistic target score for all but the most skilled among us. Me

In 1993, I played my first-ever round of disc golf with Brian at Clyde Fant Park and he sold me my first disc. He was a friend of Ed Headrick when they worked together at Whamo and Brian planted the first Polehole basket in the state of Louisiana.

I can't say for sure, but have heard that Joe Bison has expressed a desire to start a league here. I have his cell number, if you need it. Also, there is Sunday morning mini at Ford Park, hosted by Mike Quinn.

I don't think there has ever been true league play here. But for the last five years we have run a mini using a handicap scoring system at Highland (Shreveport) Park on saturdays at 3pm (2pm during winter months). And, as Trackin wrote, a mini takes place at Clyde Fant Disc Golf Park on wednesday evenings at 7pm, using random-draw doubles format. For more info about either event, call me at 318

I misunderstood. If the division was not offered, then no, TD didn't have to create one for just two players.

Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR) does require registering events held on city property, which includes a fifty dollar insurance rider. But that has never stopped anyone here from running an event. PDGA sanctioning includes free insurance for their events, but as you know, they charge $50 to send a proof-of-insurance document.

If a division is offered and there is a trophy, then the TD should keep that division open. The rule says that if a certain division is not offered prior, and three or more players wish to play in that division, then the TD should create that division for them, even if there is not a trophy available and the sanctioning body does not recognise and award points for that division. Now you know you fell on your own blade back then. I just stumbled upon your body in the dark and pulled it out. Then you cried foul play. Grow up and accept responsibility for your own actions. It was your lack of communication skills with other LA PDGA members that got you booted.
B. Harrison surpassed your performance as LA Coordinator by managing to hold the position without going supernov

Keep things like they are. Advanced Master is advanced. Advanced play same course as Open, Pro Master. Unless someone needs to have a trophy, just get with two others and form your own division. Intermediate Am Master, for example. Or maybe Recreational Am Master.

PDGA has already addressed this problem, as with many other issues currently being discussed on the SN Forum. The problem is, as Turbo clearly set out above, that there should be higher standards in the higher-"ranked" events. Southern Nationals has no standards at this time. But the Professional Disc Golf Association Tour Standards document requires "approved Championship targets

So will this event be straight C-tier, XC-Comp. Endowment or XC-Charity?
I'm asking because I read above:
"There will be NO pdga non-membership fee for this event because like the icebowl it is a charity event." (A.W.)
and then:
"...and if your not pdga current there is a $10 fee " (S.C.)
I'll be there either way.

TaxMan,
You wrote that $186,000 went to "fullfill memberships" and to "outsource memberships". But I can't find, in either the financial statement or the audit, a direct reference to the sum or to the expenditures you mention. If you would reference a specific line in those reports, I would know the basis for the charges implied.

"...186k to fullfill memberships.....they still spend 186k to outsource memberships..."
Where in these documents do you find what you have cited? I see no reference to either the sum of $186,000 or to the terms "fullfill memberships" or to "outsource memberships". Please be more specific.
