Thanks for the info you three, I like those ideas but don't know what we will do. I hoped I would get more responses than 3, I guess a topic with no drama = no posts. Maybe I should have titled it "What's the best way to run a weekly mini?" that way it could have started a few arguments and really got the thread going.

With the new course here in Meridian, we want to start doing some weekly minis. Being as how I've never played in one and sure haven't run one, was wondering if I could get some advice on how they work. Is it basically like a tournament, with assigned tees and shotgun starts? How does pay out work are they all "winner take all"? Should we use handicaps being there is not a lot of experi

The city of Meridian is going to order some hot stamped discs for a new course grand opening, they waited to late and Innova could not get the order filled in time but discraft can. They asked me what type to get, but I don't know much about discraft so I'll ask yall. I would tell them to get a buzz of course but wanted them to get a driver also, these disc would be used by beginners, so what is

Meridian Parks and Rec have agreed and with the help of Lauderdale County have purchased 9 baskets to be installed at Highland Park. This will be the first course in Meridian and if all goes well they will add 9 more. They should start installation around the second week of April and are planning an official grand opening sometime towards the end of April.
It is just a 9 hole, but we hope thi

Has anyone ever played or installed a course that is in a "bad part of town"?
I ask because I am thinking of proposing -haven't talked to anyone about it yet- a course at a park that's around a rough neighborhood that in the past has had some theft, shootings, etc. I know that one of the selling points of a disc golf course is that it can help run the thugs and crime out of an area,

I always thought having a "lost and found box" at a course was a good idea, like one of those steel jobsite boxes that can be locked, where people can just drop the disc in and forget it. Then maybe the local club or park employee could check it and contact the person to give the disc back. I just thought that may make it easier, because I have lost a lot of discs and have never been ca

How are topics for the meetings decided? It does seem that things are discussed, then tabled and never brought up again. Not complaining, just asking, I know it's a lot needing to be talked about/done by the board.
I will say I think it all starts with a new site.

The BOD should have to help check the players eligibility, I know it's a volunteer position but you have to expect to do something more than just show up for meetings when you get elected. As I said in another topic this is where each seat should have a job that comes with it, and as someone else said a while back, form committees. The BOD member could appoint and over see the committee to help w

New website also needs pics, of BOD members so we can know them when we see them at a tourney, and pics from SN tourneys.
I also think that not a lot of players even know about the site, a newsletter should be made available at events.

Ads should pay for a new website
As far as ratings, once you have a program/spreadsheet that will figure them is it just plugging in numbers? I have no idea how ratings are figured. I think that each BOD seat should have a job tied to it and when you run you know what will be your job for the seat you are filling. Inserting numbers to figure ratings should be one of the jobs, just like updatin

As said in another topic a small portion of SNAC funds should go for an AM's rating system (no ratings for the pro division) as the AM's are the ones who want and need ratings.
As for the website, which I believe should be the most important change, selling ads should be able to make enough money to cover the cost.

I have a question, If novice is for 1st timers and no one in the division has played a tournament, then how are they supposed to know if they or someone in the group does something wrong?
How are they to learn if no one in the group has ever played in a tournament before?
I understand that most will say it is up to them to read the rules before, or ask about something they are not sure of

Maybe use the profits to buy some collared shirts with no sponsors on the shirt just a SN logo. I know a lot of people wanted these type shirts anyway when the talks first started. They would cost more and you would have to charge more but I think they would sell.

I think online is the way to go, have a way that when someone checks the results of a tourney on the website, they can register right there and they are assigned a number right then. Then tell them to use the number when they sign up for a tournament, over time you will have more and more numbers assigned. People may not get on the website to visit the forums but a lot do get on to look at result

I agree with the no sponsors on the shirt, just the SN logo and maybe the year, I think it would just look nicer and more professional and isn't that one of the things the SN is trying to accomplish. I understand about wanting sponsors so it's all profit, but I think you would sell more shirts without the sponsors on it. Maybe there is a way to get sponsors for them without having to put them o

What's the incentive for a TD/Club to give incentives for SN bag tag holders? I can see a club hosting a SNQ to give incentives for someone having one of their clubs tags because it helps raise money for their club, why should they give incentives to someone having a SN bag tag, what would be in it for them? I like the idea as I do buy a SN tag, haven't yet but will, and I haven't ever run an eve

What's dial up?
I say sanction it, since the rule was put in place to keep people from "pulling a fast one", as some have put it, and that is not what was going on here.
With that said maybe the rule should be changed again to say something like, the SN can refuse sanctioning, even after the tournament has taken

Another reason for preregistration to be the only registration!!! Even though I know that's not possible, it would put an end to this sort of thing happening.

You have to make sure you keep up with who has preregistered, because I've signed up and sent money in early to make sure I got what was being offered but because I wasn't one of the first to "CHECK IN" I missed out. That kind of thing doesn't make it worth preregistering.
I do think that if you can register online this makes it easier and more people will likely do it.

I know it has been said before, but I'll say it again. If the invited players(ones with the most points) would register early and fill the tournament, then playing in one event and only having two points would not get them in, not getting in because they didn't have enough points should make them want to play in as many events as they can.

I feel that whenever the season is, the SNC should be as close to the end of the season as possible, so people that move up after the season don't get two or three months of playing in a higher division before the SNC's come around, it's almost like moving down to play a tourney that way
