Awards: 30 minutes after the last card is turned in.
Payouts: Pros: top 34%, Am Advanced: top 41%, all other Ams: top 50%. These are threshold percentages that must be reached in the payouts. For instance, if there are 9 players in a pro division 4 places will be paid.
The park access fee is not included in the tournament fee. We are renting the courses not the park. When you come through the park gate you will be expected to pay the standard fee that applies to cars, busses, campsites, cabins, etc. Since this is a one day event we are not reserving any group cabins.
The first 70 (regardless of division) to register will receive a tournament disc. All amateur players will receive a custom full color Discraft disc. Other items may be added at the TD's discretion.
The winner of the pro open division will receive a gift certificate from Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall for a one night stay for two at their hotel and a $100 tab at Twain's fine dining steakhouse (a $229 value). I can tell you from personal experience that the food is incredibly good. The winner must be at least 21 years of age and other conditions apply. If underage, the certificate will go to the second place winner & so on until a 21+ year old is reached. This will be in addition to the calculated cash payout.
At the time of this posting I have $1,000 in sponsorship money in the bank, the Sam's Town certificate and the tournament discs paid for. I expect to receive more money and will update this thread as we get closer to the event. The money will go first to expenses (including but not limited to printing, postage, envelopes, $3 per head to the park, $3 per head to SNGD, award plaques & CTP's) remaining sponsorship money will go to all pro division's payout. That payout distribution will be weighted in accordance to the entrance fees. In other words, the pro open division will receive more per player because their fee is higher. The payouts will be calculated as a ratio between first and second place and a higher constant ratio between the next place and subsequent places rounded off to the nearest dollar.
Amateur prizes will consist of a plaque and pre-assembled packages of discs or other merchandise whose retail value is equal to or greater than the calculated cash award. There will not be vouchers for vendors.
Wall Doxey State Park is famous for mosquitos and chiggers. Everyone is advised to liberally apply insect repellant with the highest deet content you can find paying special attention to areas of exposed skin, beltline, socks and shoes. Don't forget to spray down your disc bag if you think you will sit it on the ground.
You will be on your on for lunch. The park no longer will prepare lunch for disc golf events and will not allow anyone to prepare and sell lunches unless they register as a vendor and pay sales tax on proceeds. If anyone wants to do that: have at it and let everyone know.
The last tournament I ran here was in 2014. I called for 2 work days and nobody showed up so I had to do all the clearing, weed eating, pruning and basket repair by myself. This year I am going to institute a new program called, "It is what it is." On tournament day we will play the courses in whatever the condition they happen to be in good, bad or ugly.
At the time of this writing I have $1,300 in sponsorship money in the bank, all the tournament discs paid for and a gift certificate from Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall for one night for two in their hotel and a $100 tab at their fine dining venue.
I worry that someone will hurt themselves and claim that they did not have the opportunity to actually read the waiver. Here it is to be read at one's leisure:
Waiver of Liability

Nacho called me Friday and said that he would like to cater lunch and had all the arrangements covered. I readily accepted his offer. You will have to pay for it as it it not a part of the Activity but a hot meal in the hand is worth two in the bag.
Right now I have $1,550 in sponsorship money. More is on the way. This is really weird since there discussion forum. No one is pre-registered and I have no idea how many, if any, are going to attend. One thing I do know: with as much cash as I have on hand for payouts some non-attendees are going to be kicking themselves after they learn how much money the pros have won.
Right now I have $1,905 in sponsorship money...plus the Sam's Town certificate...plus the tournament discs.
